  7. Bought this beast as part of a massive rig including Ashdown BTA400, sadly now gone due to going down the 'portable' gear route. The Hartke Pro4200 retailed for £675 and is a superb, punchy big 4x10 with a huge horn (no, really!). It has a few marks on the tolex but is in very good condition, having only been used for a few months, rehearsals and light gigging only. If you are in the market for a top quality 4 ohm 4x10 and can cope with the 55 kilos of heft, then get in touch. Thanks for looking , asking £265 - bargain....
  8. Thanks for the kind words Alan. And just to add, I go by the name of totodave on Ebay where more feedback comments can be read. The Ashdown amp is great. Nate Mendel reckons its the best sounding bass head you can get - i don't know about that but I can speak to the transparent yet warm tone. When I had it PAT tested the engineer said that he was blown away by the almost hi-fi quality of the signal.
  9. SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD I'm selling my Ashdown BTA400. This is the most amazing amp, incredible tone, great range of features and enough tube ooooph to fill your average stadium (thats 400 tube watts...), 8 KT88s glowing beautifully and vaguely menacingly. The amp has only had light use, and is in as new condition. It comes with the ABM foot switch and an Ashdown cover. Reason for selling is that I simply don't need the power and it is a heavy beast - be warned, 35kilos is a lot to lug about. But if you want or need the power and have the inclincation to cope with the weight then grab yourself a monster bargain. This amp retails for £2799, not including the footswitch and cover. Thanks for looking. David
  10. Hi all. I'm new to the site and would really welcome some views, advice and general comments about the situation I find myself in re gear. I recently sold my Ashdown Mag 300 Evo II 210 as I felt the need for a little more headroom. My first ebay purchase got me a HARTKE HA5500 with a Hydrive 410. This is great kit although I'm not sure the combination is best as the amp can only give of its best at 4 ohms and the Hydrive runs on 8, albeit rated at 1000W! However, I made another ebay purchase because I could not let this pass. I now have an Ashdown BTA400 monster along with a HARTKE Pro 4200 4x10 and a HARTKE 2x15. This is awesome kit. However, it is monumentally heavy to lug about and not entirely necessary for rehearsal and playing medium size gigs. I love the Ashdown, the sense of theatre in turning it on and those 8 (yes 8) huge KT88 valves starting to glow, is wonderful. But, I have no need for such power and the HARTKE itself if very powerful. I am finding myself using the HARTKE amp with the HARTKE Pro 4x10 (rated at 4 ohms) which is brilliant and more than powerful enough for the gigs I'm playing at the moment. I am loathe to sell the Ashdown but at the moment its just sitting (heavily) in its huge box. Can anyone persuade me that I should hold on to it? I want to be persuaded! Any views about what the Ashdown offers over and above what the HARTKE amp can provide? Help! Many thanks - David
