Thank you Marc, It wouldn't surprise me if the shop switched the plate, it was sold to me as a 2012 pbass it was only later that I found out it was made in 2010... Obviously I don't want to name them because there's a possibility of this being a mis understanding. They certainly aren't experts when it comes to basses so it's possible that they simply had the wrong information. All of that said, it's an absolutely incredible bass, plays and sounds amazing, and honestly, I wish I didn't need to sell it!

This was bought new that's why I can't really see a situation where a swap would have taken place. It's really interesting... I've emailed Fender and hopefully they can shed some light on the situation.

I'd be really surprised if that happened in the shop. It's just a small independent place that sells mostly guitars. They only had this, a jazz bass and a few 2nd hand basses so I've no idea where a different plate would have come from.

Yea, I guess that's what's confusing me... I think he said it was a 2012. It was absolutely pristine when I got it. The Fender strings, which had obviously had been on it since the factory, weren't as unplayable as you'd expect for something 4 years old!

Ok, thanks for the info guys. I always though that the string throughs were introduced in 2012. Still... it was bought new from a shop in 2014 but I'll update the post to avoid any confusion

Hmmm interesting... As far as I was aware it's post 2012 as indicated by the ability string through the body... Anyone know if there's somewhere I can check the serial to be sure?
