I've taken it apart and sanded the marks out, and I was just going to tru-oil it this time and once that's finished and dry, shoot a can of clear nitro over the top for a hard finish.

I think Cellulose reacts with Tru-oil, so if you go down that route test it first on a scrap piece of alder.

It is a nice piece of alder, how about rustins plastic coating, super hard finish that buffs up to very high gloss and dead easy to apply?

That looks absolutely incredible, how does that Delano sound?, I have a 5 string project with one of their alnico MM pickups and it's very impressive

    Hi

I've use a hybrid before and LOVE em, it's even better with the added neck pickup. I really like the definition of the delano stuff, clear but without sounding sterile and harsh. Delano sonar preamp is one of the most neutral sounding preamps I've ever heard (which is what I want). I've got a MM5 dealno lined up to go in another one soon - cant wait for that.

it might just be the camera angle or something but it looks a little bit like the scratch plate on the bottom horn doesn't quite follow the horn's shape? as I say it may just be lens distortion or something.

The scratchplate is just really just a template for the neck joint / pickups for Jim to make one, it was a scrap one that I had kicking about and you are right, it looks a bit thin on the lower horn :D

Nah, but quite a few other owners were of the same opinion, so it's safe to assume it was OK. Unless there was a faulty batch, of course. Plus, I think the new owner was happy enough.

I hate writing negative comments on amps as not everyone likes the same thing (thankfully) but this is one that i feel very stongly about.

I had an RH450 for a while and tried everything to get it to sound right to me. I downloaded the mid centre frequency charts etc and spent a long time with it and it really did nothing for me. It worked and no probs with volume, remained clear at high levels but very bland and totally lacked character

I've since spoke to 2 other ex-RH450 owners who say the same thing.

Try before you buy, but it did sound good at home volume and on its own cranked up but crap in our typical pub band doing rock covers. All the MB stuff i've heard live sounds great (but never owned one)
