1. I bought these as an experiment but I've realised that rounds are more for me but I know a lot of people with fretless basses enjoy these so if anyone wants them they are up for grabs.

I've had them on for a few months but total play time is about 6 hour's as I tend to only play bass when recording now.

£12 posted (paypal gift please) . They retail at £17 + postage new so is good price with plenty of life and the E was a replacement from status so no worries about dead strings.

I've not cut them down either so should for anything 34 inch scale.

Yum! That's lovely.Only thing I'd change is losing the budgie perch :-)

  3. Goodness me I never really got whole relic/roadworn thing but seeing this thread has made me appreciate them in a new light. What a stunning instrument!

I'd love a white and tort p with jazz neck and light relicking if I had to custom choose my own bass from him :)

  4. I play more guitar at home these days with not being in a band so thinking of selling my bass to get some guitar related gear and replacing bass with a cheap 2nd hand p style.

I used to use an Encore P bass ages agoand it provided some great recorded tones and I think something inexpensive and simple like a 2nd hand Westfield P may fit the bill, as seen these go for peanuts.

Are these as good and fit for purpose as people say? Are they nice enough to play for just recording and odd sporadic jam?

  5. Can anyone recommend a decent inexpensive and simple DI / headphone practice type of di box.I'm aware of the bdi21 but I'm thinking simpler than that ,just basic bass middle and treble controls which doesn't inflict its own sound like I've heard the BDI / sansamp style pedals do.

As a kind of example of what I'm after, imagine the headphone output of a practice amp but without the amp!

    Thanks

  6. As much as I like my now only bass,a Yamaha BB414, I'm gassing for a white precision so I can put a tort p/g which is my ideal look for a bass. I'm thinking of trying to swap or trade in.

What are people's experience of the standard squier in comparison to BB? I do find the pups in the Yam are hotter than I'd like and its harder to get a nice recorded tone on it than I used to get on a cheap Encore P I had years ago which is why I'm tempted to go P again (i doubt I'd miss the J in all honesty so versatility of the Yams p/j not really an issue)

  7. I did this to my Squier CV tele - the neck has a very high gloss finish so used a grey scotch brite pad and knocked down the shine a bit . feels really nice. It is slowly glossing up again due to playing. May consider using a rougher pad next time for an even more satin finish, but not sure.

  8. The necks on these CV tele's do have a pretty thick and sticky gloss finish on them. I gave mine a good rub down with a scotchbrite pad and it plays beatifully now and less drag - although it may be a bit upsetting to do on such a lovely looking neck, I do recommend this mod for a playability point of view.

  9. Great guitars these and very versatile - they just work on anything with those 3 pickup selections.

Ive had mine since January and recorded all sorts of tracks from quite rocky grungey. to clean instrumentals and it just works on them all.

    Happy NGD!

  10. Berkeley (which was Rimmers music shops own brand) tele style guitar for sale.

It is a plywood body but it does actually sound really good with the upgraded Wilkinson pickups that are in it! They are fairly vintage voiced pickups and are fairly dark but do have an authentic tele twang and sounds good in all three positions. Middle position is particularly nice.

There is a slight fret buzz on open E and A. Reason is that there was a shim under nut which, but I lost it changing strings and have replaced it with wood, but it is not quite thick enough but someone who wants to sort it out it can be done easily, or get a better nut. Wiring has been upgraded to one of Kiogons wiring looms and it has Wilkinson ceramic pickups in that are normally found in their V2 model.

Only reason for sale is that I have a Squier CV tele which now meets my tele needs, but this guitar more than filled the void while I was saving for it!

Pics are not the best as they are a couple of years old from the mobile I had at the time and was before I added WIlkinson picups, but you get the idea, I will try and get some recent pics taken tonight if anyone wants to see.

£50 collection from Wigan or nearby, or preferably if anyone has an old Encore P bass knocking around would swap for that!

I'm more of a guitarist than a bassist if truth be told. This is my main guitar, self built.

Actually I posted a thread about making it here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/210039-so-i-built-my-ideal-guitar/

That guitar is correct! Love it

This is an extremely interesting post.

    +1.
Its interesting the way pickups sound when put together as well. On my P/J equipped bass I dont find the J pickup very desirable or useful on its own, but in conjunction with the P it is my pickup selection of choice for pretty much most things that I record.

These are great little multi FX and very under rated GLWTS :)

Thanks! I found it really handy for the drum machine and using it has a jamming tool. I dont really need it so much now that I've found a good way of using my laptop to do this.
