........... a long time ago - 1968/9 at St Charles' Hall, Clacton-on-Sea.
Song was probably 'Flames' by Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera or 'Johnny B Goode'.

Probably my favourite Beatles album.
... and mine too.
'Revolver' and 'The White Album' are both streets ahead of Sgt Pepper.

+1. The OST from West Side Story is a masterclass in song writing - my personal favourite track has to be 'America'. Energetic and entertaining ! !

Pigbag - Papa's got...I bought the album in the 80s on the back of this.
Joy Division - Love will tear us apart. Couldn't get on with any of the other stuff and I really don't rate PH as a bassist either. Not that controversial
Pigbag - yep loved the single, underwhelmed by the album.
Love Will Tear Us Apart - is for me the definitive and the only Joy Division track.
I never came to grips with Genesis except for ‘Dance On A Volcano / Los Endos’ on the Seconds Out album which IMHO is outstanding - and is Genesis’ saving grace.

This has been my view from the start.
If you can write a song and sell a million copies, then it's a good song. Too may people confuse this with personal preferences.
I agree.

I found a 2nd-hand mandolin in a local charity shop, so I thought .... 'never played one before but why not have a go' .... so I bought it.
A quick polish and a change of tuning to E-A-D-G - so I could play basic guitar chord shapes and Robert is your Father's Brother. Three days later I used it to busk with another guitar player at a friend's birthday barbecue and a week later I used it a gig - just for one song (The Irish Rover).
The guitarist and I have worked out a few more busking type songs to do at another party later this month and we've decided to keep Irish Rover in the band set ! ! !

I've had cause to visit the Status factory in Colchester, (about 10 miles from my front door), a couple of times over the past 15 or so years, and had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Rob and Dawn both times - two thoroughly nice people.
My best wishes go to Rob and Dawn along with my thanks for some remarkable bass guitars.
Chris.
