1. Hi guys,

Is there any software available which will recognise music notation and input the data itself. What I'm asking for is something like a plug in which are used in sibelius where I could scan in a peice of music and it would create the chart itself without me manually adding everything in ?

I know i'm being lazy but it would be a great help !

2. To learn the notes all you have to do is sit down and learn them. What sped the process up for me was ...

- Shout the note out loud
- Find it on all of the strings
- If there is an accidental involved, go up in #'s and come back down in b's
- Carry on doing it for a while and voila !

Another thing that helped me was playing the grooves I knew in certain positions and moving them up to the next position. I think Scott Devine's website has a lesson called 'Stuck in one area of the fretboard'. That'll do you wonders!

3. This might go off at a tangent but ... Where do you guys buy your strings for ?

At the minute I;m using D'Addarios (EXL) which I have used for over 6 months now. I like the sound, how long they last and most of all I can get a 4/5 string set for around £20 on Amazon. I've heard good things about the Elixir strings but they're going to cost me back quite. (I buy strings every month because I get through them at an alarming rate !)

4. I;ve always loved the Gospel 'sound', chord progressions and the grooves that you can kick out. I'm not christian or anything myself but I love the music they create. I'm just stuck on where to start looking for some good stuff e.g. albums, tracks. I know the players e.g. Sharay Reed, Thaddieus and so on. its just getting my hands on some of the recordings and hear how the bass is playing, work some stuff out.

Any ideas ?

Why not post a thread asking "Is anyone travelling from Brum to.....?"
Then ask the BCer to take it.

It's a great idea but I just wouldn't be comfurtable sending it off with someone I don't know, if you know what I mean.

7. Hi guys,

I wanted to know what you guys use as in couriers to post a bass including price and level of cover ? Also do you add a little bit more protection just in case e.g. bubble wrap.

I've only sent another one but the time has come where i have to get rid of another one via post ....

Have you already seen http://basschat.co.u...ht-cabs-thread/ and similar threads?
Can you narrow it down a bit as to what style you're after? Like the Focus, or different?
Is the budget important?

Also, does it have to be a 210? The Vanderkley 112MNT is terribly loud and weighs nothing, apart from reportedly being a fabulous cab.
The 112EXT reportedly sounds even more Hi-Fi, at the cost of volume.

HI,

Im looking for something with deep lows and crisp highs. If there is a tweeter control is present it would be a bonus but not what I would specifically want. Not specifically a 2x10, I only mentioned that as it;s the only size I've used, apart from the 1x15. If I had my own transport I would keep them both but thats not happening anytime soon!

I really like the aguilar range, especially the newer cabs but there completely out of my budget. I think £750 for 1 cab ...

10. Hi,

So I wanted to ask you guys about lightweight cabs. Its because I'll be off to music college next year and I don't want to be lugging around heavy gear for rehearsals, small gigs and so on.

My current rig is the Genz Benz 6.2 with a 2x10 and 1x15. I'm getting rid of the 1x15 because the heads quite loud with 1 cab without overpowering it. For small gigs and rehearsals its perfect.
It weighs in at around 43lbs. It may be light for some but I'm looking for other 2x10 cabs that maybe a little lighter than this one. Something easy to lug around on public transport

So anyone have any recommendations or are getting rid of a lightweight cab :P
