  1. Hi guys,

After playing at the LG we felt the buzz ! The groove made everyone feel great and the nerves just dropped off. There are pictures and videos of the night and also later on there will be proper HD footage of the gig on the OMG website which we are also looking forward to.

    Heres our FB page https://www.facebook.com/MinorSixx

  2. Hi Guys,

    [attachment=161050:Running Order.png]

I think I posted here before about this gig that our recently formed band (Minor 6) are playing at but didn't have much information and was useless. But now I have all the details and what not so here we go ...

    Background -

Newly formed band only been playing for about 8 weeks together, in this time we worked on arrangements of the tunes we were playing as the instruction was not to cover but to be original and creative. We're all around the 15-19 range, most of us play at our local jazz band that is put on my the local council (or whatever you want to call it).

    The Gig -

Free entry as it states on the website now. I think acts like Union J and Lawson are playing (which I have no clue about but they are big in the pop world?)
Starts at 3:30PM and ends roughly 10PM

    More info - http://www.lgarena.co.uk/whatson/omg-live/

Hope some of you guys can make it as it's a free gig, bring how many people you want oh and also theres going to be some FUNK!

That's the exact type of idiocy and ignorance that beginner bassists don't need to hear. Some people really like to misinform the noobs!

+1 on that. I was just starting up, learning the notes, scales, looking at other types of basses and BANG! That's when I ended up buying a squire (because it wasn't a stingray!)

    Brillliant !!

  5. Hey guys,

I'm 2 hours into this video (audio only) and the concepts he talks about are worth listening to, even if your not a bass player. He mentions stuff like theory, playing different subdivisions, learning the notes on the bass and general musicianship. Thought I'd give you guys a heads up on it because I've been looking for some stuff by him on Youtube that's longer than a couple of minutes!

    Enjoy It

My advice would be to go for as compact and as light a 1x12 as you can find.
I've just gone for 2 x Ashdown Mi10 cabs, would be perfect for lugging around on the bus etc. but you might struggle a bit with a single cab. My setup would be one cab at home, two for gigs.
As MOSCOWBASS says above, a single 10 will fart out on its own at high volumes. I believe the Mi10 cabs are based on the EA Wizzy 10.

I would suggest the Ashdown Mi12 cab, but I know its one of the larger designs on the market, so probably not suited to your needs.
Same goes for the Genz Benz Focus 112 unfortunately.

Maybe a Schroeder 1x12? As suggested above, they are proper light, and the Mini112 is very compact.

I heard a Bareface Midget at the Moffat Bass Bash, and although I've never been a fan of the look or build of the Barefaced cabs, they are constantly improving, and man alive, that Midget REALLY filled the room, I was VERY impressed with that aspect of it, oh and they are insanely light too.
Might be worth checking that one of them out?
For the record, that was a regular, i.e. non tweetered version and it didn't need one in my opinion.

Your other options include an Aggie SL cab perhaps?

    Cheers,
    Eude

Im looking at the SL cabs at the min and having a look at where I can have a go on them. They are very pricey but all the reviews/people I;'ve spoke to all rave about them being great and beefy

  9. Hi guys,

Has anyone tried these SL cabs (I think that's what they're called). There the new range of light weight cabs by Aguilar. I've played through a GS cab with the same head (Tonehammer 500) and love the sound and was thinking if the newer cabs produced the same type of sound being quite small as they are.

There's a notation ocr program called photoscore, made by sibelius's creators. It used to come bundled with sibelius, at least it was up to v6. I havent upgraded since then, so it may have been dropped.

I heard about this but didn't know it was true. Will definitely look up !
