    The passive sound of Pro Wal sounds just as good as its active version IMO. you'll get more tonal variations with an active circuit and perhaps a bit more pop, but the Wal sound, like Gary said is still there.

    I actually have a parts Wal bass i'm trying to put together and tested a Pro PUP that I acquired. If you want to get an idea of sound, here is a little thing I put together when i had test wires and such......believe the way i had it wired the pickup coils are in series (i show how i wired it in the beginning of the vid)....also the instrument jack is directly connected to the PUP so its as if everything is wide open.
