I had a performer 4 when they did that crazy holoflash finish. Neck was... odd. It was slimmer than what I was used to, but it wasn't bad. The pickups weren't quite as powerful as I was expecting, but the response was nice and consistent, was a nice recording bass.

I'd be all over that otherwise.... -
You got yours quick, I assume it was already built?!?!
I ordered a 7 string at the beginning of the month, if it turns out okay then there's a double or triple neck with my name on it as well..... -
I actually started on Fur Elise last night, just the right hand melody. When my seven string arrives I want to try and incorporate the left hand in as tapping if I can.

Earth Wind n Fire's Boogie Wonderland is fun.

Looking at your username, I think "Where the wild things are" uses a 6 string. Well, I think are two notes on the high C somewhere.
-
I don't know if this is the most appropriate forum, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any solo arrangements for 6/7 string basses of stuff like Fur Elise, Toccata and Fugue, etc? I've seen some cool videos on Youtube.
Columbus, on the whole, were pretty cheap & nasty
I'm about to recieve my fifth, and I've only had one two cheap ones. First was an EB-3 copy, really nice, great pickups, but i didn't get on with the short scale. Then a Les Paul, also great. Next Les Paul was cheap. Single coil pickups in humbucker housings, horrible neck. *Third* Les paul was much the same The one I'm waiting for is a fretless jazz. I bid heavily on the block necked jazz earlier in the thread, but missed out. -

I own the first one, yeah.

I've got the former, riffs for the majority of songs up to and including load. Accurate, and doesn't just cover the obvious riffs, does chorus/fills for some songs. Has Pulling Teeth in full

I've just won a Samick Artist on ebay in a funky marble-type finish that I'm praying is original... found one or two reviews kicking around but nothing beyond basic details. Are they good/bad/indifferent? I've seen reviews state active and passive pups, did they come with both? Any info appreciated.... I got a case out of it if nothing else

I *really* appreciate the offer but I'm over Milton Keynes way, and my Granny in Bath passed away a few years ago. Shame, it was an excuse to visit this awesome 2nd hand vinyl shop.... -
I've dealt with Dolphin commercially and they're not great. Calls not returned, orders processed slowly even when I've been told on the 'phone items are in stock. In one case a rep emailed me after a week to ask if I still needed the quote I asked him for (he hadn't done it), by which point I'd placed the order elsewhere. They do give me good prices though....

Painfull? Definetely. My first bass was an Aria Legend, and I had braces on my teeth at the time. After jamming with some friends, I lifted the bass over my head to take it off the strap, and smashed the upper edge into my mouth, removing a chunk of laquer with my metalwork. Hurt both of us

Christ, that is cheap!! Thanks very much -
I'm after a couple of hardcases that are to be used in the house only for storage, what are the cheapest you've come across?

That's the one!! You rock, thank you! I've no idea which thread I saw it in but I should have bookmarked it.... Cream pickups never occured to me, but they certainly brighten up what is otherwise a dark looking bass, and I didn't want to put a lurid green scratchplate on it or something...

Hi, I'm new here
I've got a Columbus Jazz bass in the post, which is completely black, which is nice as it matches the fretless neck, but I think I'll find it a bit boring. I have got a spare white scratchplate, but when I was nosing around on here I came across a shot of a jazz with a torty scratchplate and cream pups, which I'd love to see again if anyone knows what I'm talking about!! Axes R Us do a cheap set of cream pickups, and if this is like the other three columbus' I've owned, they'll be better that whats currently in it. -
There was a Tokai on ebay today, but it looks like it has already been pulled/bought. It was £400 BIN.

So hows the build quality? The only concern i have with the seven is the fact that the bridge is a single line tunomatic, no intonation adjustment. I realise that a seven string bridge would add significant cost, and I can't have my cake and eat it.... that I don't think I've ever intonated a bass in my life anyway
