1. I've recently purchased a lovely old Jazz which has body profiled at neck joint so a standard neck plate cannot be used. As such screws are set deep into body (and subsequently neck).

Few ideas:

Leave well alone, if it ain't broke don't fix it £0

Tidy up the body with use of countersunk Ferrules

.....then and only if required fit inserts (Ebay "WBS Guitar/Bass Neck Joint system" is all I've seen so far) to allow neck to be anchored without fear and also transplant to another body.

Other approach I have access is luthier to rebuild to standard body shape with a glued Alder block allowing neck plate to be reinstated. (this will definitely require thought to get neck anchored properly) and a refinish.

Thoughts on a postcard?

Ta, David

Much as it's lovely I really need a Fretless. Bought via Bluesman on here earlier and really is immaculate. All the normal scratch and ding points are simply not there. Only marking I've found is on the scratchplate where it belongs (and I've had new basses from shops with more).

Don't need to say anything about these, neck is absolutely lovely (from all angles) with proper thin fretwires and low action.
I had a relic Jazz that this mimic's and apart from being a bit bright with modern pickup windings it's a good effort. Tone could get there with a bit of thought.

Now on new Flatwounds for proper feel and tone, complete with Fender Branded Chinese hardcase.

I would sell (£200) but in first instance looking for a nice Fretless Jazz or possibly consider a genuine US Jazz Fretless neck (4 bolt) and/or other quality parts. Don't want anything that's abused by Roundwounds though. We'll see where we get to in next few days.

Have to be something very nice for me to consider adding any cash (which I don't have !!)

Ta muchly for looking

OLP's are passive but stil very capable of giving bulk of the 'Ray Tone.

Have a BTTT on me Janmaat. My 4 string OLP now resides in Canada with a friend as couldn't truly part with it. One of best neck's I've played at any price.

4. Just sold on my 2002 CS Relic '64 Jazz :D
Love my Montego Black US Deluxe :) (the one that was for sale on here for a year)
...and need to finish off "Triggers broom" with a proper bridge and maybe a chunk of Ebony. I'll post piccies when she's done but a 1989 Samick Korean Squier Jazz could end up very nice indeed. Already has Hipshot D Tuner and proper Bassslines Pickups. I would change the neck but headstock is signed by one Mr Billy Sheehan

Something Japanese and Fretless may be an alternative :)
