  1. Very tempted by this. Clone of my longest owned bass. If like mine S/N starts S9 that is 1989. Great necks and Schaller licenced tuners. Mine went to Bassdoc when had the shop near Grainger Market for a custom made red tort scratchplate (the Samick factory didn't quite get the shape right) and a D-tuner as those Machine heads are rarer than Rocking Horse Poo (I bent one).

  2. Wow, that is stunning. Wish I had funds and skills to do it justice. We were at the British Violin Makers Association exhibition not long ago and got talking to Colin (at least the Boss says it was him). It would cost a lot more than this to commission one now as effort to return ratio is nothing compared to a Violin or Viola. A truly stunning instrument that will serve many a generation.

Anyone got guidance as how to repair a rattling machine head. Read elsewhere regards bit of solder in the pin joint? Or replace pin?
Happy to send to someone who can. Don't want to ruin look of these Tokai (Gotoh?) Nickel tuners.

Not seen any like this anywhere, though optimistically now also in Wanted section.

  4. Started on Bass Guitar in School Big Band. Had Double Bass lessons to a point but other life and music got in the way. When had space bought a decent Stentor (Elysia). Nothing hurt so good as playing the Buddy Rich arrangement of Norwegian Wood :D (I had to step up my game with the rehearsing band I was in). But then the band came to nothing and I lost the will to live depping for Trad Jazz Militants  Fast forward 7 years and through having decent fretless bass guitars I took the plunge and got hold of a Bespoke Superlight EUB. Bass (as opposed to bass guitar) is so expressive, in fact I'm off to practice now. I don't even mind that first gig back is depping for Trad Jazz militants :P
