I'm based in Edinburgh, would you accept an offer of £
xxx? -
Can I ask what case that is?

Nice but a crazy price tag around 7000 GBP means that it's not for the common people...
Dang that's pricey. Might as well get a custom or two for that! Have you got a link for the price? -

Very nice.
The nick and the fretboard are wenge?
Correct. It's super nice.
I realize after playing it a bit that the .174 gauge string isn't seated correctly on the nut. How do I widen the nut to accommodate the extra string width? -
Received two new strings from Neil at Newtone. They fit this time and they are huge! Need to readjust my bass to fit the bigger gauge.
Thanks all who posted. -
Neil from Newtone is sending me out 2 new strings for the low B and E so that's kind of him. Hopefully sooner than later.

I have previously bought D'Addario singles for a Dingwall (albeit 5-string). Extra Long Scale for the B and E and Long Scale for the A to G strings, they worked fine.
I've stayed away from D'Addario before as I used to own a Carvin XB76 (35 1/4") and the strings didn't fit. If they do fit a 37" Dingwall, that'd be nice.
I've been thinking of trying to find some flatwound strings for my other Dingwall but, one step at a time... -

Make sure that you factor in your behind the bridge saddle length and your behind the nut length. I did not and it got expensive.

Well, being the fool that I am, I didn't explicitly mention this to Newtone and now my 2 low strings are slightly too short (the fat core part is shy an inch off the nut). I'll see if I can order another 2 that fit. In the mean time, I'll use the other strings. -
Newtone Strings arrived.

37" - G# - .174

36.25" - C# - .130

35.5" - F# - .100

34.75" - B - .078

34" - E - .058

33.25" - A - .044
Will found out if they fit and how they hold up this week! -

Kalium tends to be long enough (oddly enough 37" is considered "Medium" for Kalium strings) so I always had a few inches excess.
Fortunately Newtone has gotten back to me and they are happy to do up to .200 gauge strings. So I'll give them a spin (with some extra inches for bridge saddle and nut length. -
I've sent an email to inquire about the recommended gauges. I realize they do .150 maximum and I'm looking to go larger (tuning to G# Standard).
If all fails, it's back to Kalium for me! -
Thanks guys.
Unfortunately, I need 6 strings and the available gauges on the Kalium and Dingwall section aren't what I am looking for. I'll email in and see if they can put together a custom gauge set for me. -
Extended Length Bass Strings - Where do you buy them?
I ask this question to the folks on this forum. I own 2 Dingwall ABZ6 bass guitars and I love them - however getting strings for them has been a pain in the ass as I've been using Kalium strings from the US. They sound fantastic but the shipping and customs is a pain.
Does anyone have any suggestions on other suppliers for strings? Preferably more local.
Apologies if this has been covered before. A quick 5 second search was fruitless. -
Looks interesting. Hope it has a variety of tones and is enough to separate it from the B7K.
-
Sorry for not putting up a demo (not had the time and I will not do it justice) but this video is pretty good.

I agree it on being super transparent and very quiet. I've only played around with it using my pedal board and DI (rig is at the parent's sadly) but I can't wait. Replaced my MXR M87 with this. -

Hot from Bassdirect.co.uk onto my desk.
I've not tried it out yet. But looking forward to it. -
Finally got round to trying this live.
It can get LOUD and it's so clear. It doesn't colour the tone at all and really lets the bass / pedals / amp head tone ring out. It's a keeper! -
Haha, it does look very mean in the 2nd picture. Fortunately it behaves itself next to my guitar rig. The Hartke HA5500 sounds great through it but I really need to push the dirt on my pedals and head for this cab! It's pristine clean!
-
Thanks guys!
The short moment that I did play it, I immediately noticed how clear it was and it reproduced my tone without much or any colouration. Fortunately I have 3 drive pedals so I'll make it rumble and distort. -

Not had much time to run it nor crank it loud but it sounds great. It's incredibly clear and super light. I was shocked how easy it was to lift it.
Big thanks to Barefaced for legendary customer service and razze06 for exalting Barefaced to me to get us both a discount. -
What wood is the fretboard? Is that Rosewood?
-
Depends on my bass, but now I use straight jacks since on my guitar, the jack is on the "back" of the body and a right angled jack would poke my side.

I sold Chris a Markbass F1. Great to contact, fast payment and great guy. Highly recommended!
