  1. Ref the 4x10 vs 1x15 debate, I swapped a Boschmann 12" sub for a Rockford Fosgate 12" sub in my old van's audio setup. The RF was significantly louder using the same enclosure and same power amp. Boschmann use Male inches to measure their size, whilst RF use Female (real) inches. The fact they fit the same cutout in the same enclosure is here nor there, as the Boshcmann must clearly have been smaller than it claims in reality.

Wah !  And its cheaper. Good post  BT.  Cheers !  Sod the HB jobbie

Also just realised the HB does NOT have a 15v outlet, so  my Californiwah will still have to have its own supply/plug

Fleabag, Just had a moment of enlightenment and checked what's currently powering my bass board (the Vittoos is powering my guitar stuff at the moment) - If you need a 15v outlet then a Mooer Macro Power S8 might do you. It has a switchable 9/12/15/18v outlet. Back up to paying ~£60 again, but looks like it meets your requirements.

    Power supply Mooer Macro Power S8 (1200mA / 9-12-15-18V)

  3. Me and a good friend run a holiday villa as a small sideline. If I ranted about every person who said "We want to rent your villa for these dates" and then never actually did, Ped would have to buy a bigger server to hold the threads. 😂  Most recent one was a woman wanting 3 weeks at Christmas which is one of best periods to rent. She inquired, came back a month later with what looked like a very definite "I'll have it" and then nothing. Until the deposit drops onto the account, it ain't rented and life carries on.

  4. The dodgy 2 pin "plug" is the 18v adapter, not just a plug, so you can't just cut it off. HB *should* be supplying a UK pin version under EU regs IIRC. Alternatively, there are plenty of these on ebay with a UK PSU for 2/3 the price. The HB one is just a rebadged generic item. I have one after seeing it in the pedal board thread and it does work very well.

I remember seeing them on the Dreamtime tour.  The Stingray sounded great.  I remember seeing one pedal by his mic stand which I think was an OC2.

That surprises me, can't think of any Dreamtime song that uses octave on bass? You don't mean CE2?

Never got to see them on that tour so won't say just how jealous I am... 😞

Plus, didn't this question come up when they invented synths? :D and we're still here...

First gig I ever went to was Siouxsie and the Banshees in November 1982. The support act was one bloke with a synth and a backing track (no idea who it was). Some very scary (to a 15yr old) looking punk guy was hurling abuse at him "You're killing live music" "You're putting drummers out of work", before storming out.

    And who can forget....

  7. 80's goth (Cult, Cure, Banshee etc), 80's rock, 80's.. well anything 80's! 90's Indie. Plus lots of others I'm sure.

The only time I use it on its own is for when I play she sells sanctuary with my other band, it just seems to suit it really well.

Ironically the time Jamie Stewart ditched his chorus sound that was so abundant on Dreamtime, but given how Mr Duffy's guitar was dripping in JC120 chorus, I can see why it would work well for that song on bass too.

Up till now it works flawless. All slots are used and the two variable outputs are being used at 12 V.

After a bit of searching, I found the HB ISO-2 is just like at lot of their other products, rebadged generic items. I found the same item badged up as a Vitoos ISO8 on ebay for £35 (£40 with £5 off promotion).

It arrived yesterday and I plugged it into my guitar rig with a few normally noisy pedals. This thing is good, hardly any noise at all from the pedals, the 12v and 18v powering respective pedals with ease.

  9. My Boss BF-2 is an ACA type, however the 9v daisy chaining does not work with it (strictly speaking, I've tried it with common ground 9v outputs on my Mooer Macro Power S8 PSU rather than an actual daisy chain cable) so I just use the isolated 12v output on the PSU instead.

A "tone control" is just another name for an EQ.

For example, on an active bass guitar:

    • The high tone knob is typically a shelving EQ: as you turn dial, it causes the sound to be boosted or cut starting at a specific frequency.
    • The low tone knob is also typically a shelving EQ, causing the sound to be boosted/cut starting at a specific low frequency..
    • The mid control knob is a parametric EQ: it causes the sound to boost/cut using a "bell curve shape", which is centred on a specific frequency.

More advanced EQ/tone controls allow you to also adjust the frequency at which the EQ starts to have an effect.

Here's the frequency plot of a typical Fender 3-band bass EQ, which hopefully helps to illustrate:

Red curve is the "High" tone control; blue is the "low" tone control; green is the "mids" control.

I was going to post that image with my previous post mentioning shelving filters but though it was too obviously the result of a Google image search (and also  the original is posted on Talkbass). Are the rules quite relaxed here about posting images like that? Other forums I'm on can get quite snotty about copyright.

They were, and probably vice versa, but those are patents, and some of them very obvious patents. That is why the world doesn't use gifs any more and many other things. Patents are supposed to be about protecting innovation, although not what they are used for by large companies these days. But this is not the same thing as actual piracy.

Yup, patenting a rectangle, was hardly innovation by Apple.

Probably the other way around! A graphic will tend to have higher Qs, but a standard 3 band will have pretty wide ranges.

It all depends on the circuit, a 3 band EQ, is most likely to be of a Baxandall type where the only "band" to have a Q is the mid. Bass and treble are shelving filters rather than the band pass filter of the mid.

nothing to do with royalties, just plain lazyness, lack of musical knowledge, and an assumption that listeners don't listen for more than an hour or two at a time.

You can also tell which stations belong to the same parent company. Since Kerrang got killed off on DAB, I've had to resort to either Absolute CRock or Planet Rock. I've noticed that a song will start getting played regularly on one channel and if I switch over to the other side on another journey, the same track is being rotated on there too.

  14. I have a 2 x 12 cab for sale. It also has cut-outs for tweeters that could also be used for bass reflex tubes or just plated over. It's lined internally with acoustic wading. There's one 1/4 jack on the rear but two receptacles if you wanted to added a 2nd input or daisy chain. It's in perfect condition (if a little dusty in places from being sat idle for years...), never been gigged.

Looking for £50, buyer to collect from North London, or maybe meet partway for fuel.
