1.
i do like the fact you've moved the bass department upstairs. Its meant that its easier to get service. I tried one of the squire classic vibe 50's p basses and it was loverly! Unfortunately was only able to buy sibelius.
I used to hide in the basement and play the basses on my lunch breaks so I don't really get to do that anymore! The Classic Vibes (both guitar and bass) are getting so much love at the moment! Aside from my own beloved BTB675 Ibanez my fav bass that we have in is the Fender Classic Series 70s Jazz in Sunburst. It just leaps off the wall! Looks stunning with the bound neck and so on: http://www.andertons.co.uk/electric-basses/pid10977/cid682/fender-reissue-70s-jazz-bass-guitar-3-colour-sunburst.asp
 2. Just to chuck in my 2 cents the Markbass CMD102p is a cracking amp and would be even if it weighed as much as whale. But amazingly it is ridiculously lightweight! If you want a 2x10 that isn't going to do your back in then it ticks both boxes pretty well: awesome tone, lightweight. It's fairly chunky for a 2x10 so as a plus you'll look awesome effortlessly carrying what to the unknowing eye looks like it should weigh a ton!
 3.
Depends when it was. Last visit was October last year to pick up a Zoom recorder.
Gosh that would have been right in the middle of the work! You might not have noticed as the front of the store was probably finished by then just work going on in Drum department (now at the back). You used to have to squeeze through the tiny drum department to get to guitars. Now guitars have roughly 3 times as much space devoted and it's right at the front!
 4.
Never used Andertons. But have my name down for a Chapman Bass So will maybe talk soon BTW keep an eye out for a Mad Bid advert on the Telly I'm convinced Capt' Lee is in it.
Haha I will keep an eye out for that. He gets around... maybe not Mad Bid but you never know! Until we changed our SM Policy to include signing all posts all our fans/followers would just assume that I was him whenever I posted anything! The man is obviously omnipotent!
 5.
Welcome Mark. I've been a customer of Andertons right from the very first shop in Stoke Fields in 1964 when I used to drool over Fender Jazzes and Precisions that I couldn't afford. I still can't afford early 60s Fenders so nothing much has changed.
I've got a folder on my workstation at work full of photos from over the years (right from the start) for marketing (ahem, blackmail) purposes. Lots of fantastic photos from the 70s of moustaches, sideburns and flairs! It's really quite humbling working for a business with so much heritage and that growth hasn't watered down that at all. Have you been to see us since the latest refit?
 6. Will keep an eye on any new Part Exchanges in store for any of this gear Mark and report it to the police if any of it crops up. Hope it does so you can get your gear back and the police can can get the buggers.
 7.
Andertons seriously damages my bank account!
Haha sorry to hear that. Hopefully we make up for it in other life enhancing ways though!
 8.
Welcome aboard Mark! Us bass players are a funny bunch but it's great to see our comments appreciated
I've played guitar for 10 odd years but recently moved to bass almost exclusively. I play in church bands and for a singer-songwriter friend and colleague at Andertons and there is always more demand for me to fumble bass than to play guitar and frankly I've grown to love it so much I've more or less packed in the 6-string all together. So in that interesting limbo of knowing my scales and so on fine but having to learn a lot of the right hand techniques from scratch. All too often tempting to just grab a plectrum!
 9. Created an account to reply to a thread about Andertons but as I'm a bassist anyway BC looks a great community to become involved in! I'm the Digital Marketing Executive at Andertons Music Company in Guildford and online (www.andertons.co.uk) so I'm involved in all forms of marketing communications (FB,Twitter and Email), promotions, videos, events etc. Love hanging out and talking to other musicians! In terms of life before Andertons I studied a performance diploma at Brooklands College in Weybridge before doing a BA in Music Production at Leeds College of Music. I've spent most of the last 10 years playing guitar and began playing bass semi-seriously a couple of years ago and now play bass almost exclusively. I play a 5 string Ibanez BTB675 at the moment.
 10.
If you ever decide to expand, you should open a shop in Birmingham. You already beat PMT, GAK and DV hands down on price and service.. reminds me of the old Musical Exchanges. Second thoughts dont.. If I start spending more I'm looking at a divorce!!! LOL
Well as you may or may not know we've been around since 1964 and run by three generations of the Anderton family including at current Lee Anderton and while we've always been growing as a business we've never really had any plans to open another store simply because we know that it dilutes customer service and loses some of the heart and soul of the business: the two things that make us who we are! Guildford's a lovely town though, worth the visit!
 11. Thanks for the nice comments guys, we've always prided ourselves on offering the best customer service. Which isn't to say things never go wrong just that we hope to put things right when they do. So it's always good to see threads like this!
