After a 30 year journey looking for that holy grail bass string set I've ended up back where I started (Rotosound RS66LD). Utterly fantastic, I'd totally forgotten how brilliant they are. 

Alan Spenner always got that holy grail bass sound out of his righthand. Either on pbass or wal.

Just beautiful..... George Duke always smiled when he played, he just emitted goodness. It must have been a total pleasure to do music with him. What an amazing human being. A complete master musician totally comfortable in his craft. Stunning !

Works on computers with very little spec, sounds wonderful and it's rock solid. Loads of support and a really nice bunch of people who make it & support it. It's free but you can donate. I love it.

Ive found over the years is get a bass that you really feel comfortable with. Some fretless basses ive played & owned you can just never get the intonation right ever & some feel like you can never get a note wrong. Status basses make killer fretless basses like that and so do Wal. But though they're best for me they might not be for you. I think with fretless you seriously need to make friends with your bass. You'll know when you find it !

Another tip is always make sure you can hear yourself properly & if you're playing with a band & especially when the PA guy turns the front of house up, its so easy to lose your sound/monitoring and sound like a t__t.

Try and play with other musicians as much as you can too, its so easy to sound in tune on your own but then when your playing with others its totally different.

Also trust yourself its sometimes better not to look at what your doing.

That last bit will make more sense once you get going. Good luck ; )

I've never had to adjust the pickup pole pieces on any of my Wals. If anything I have to have the pickups as far away from the stings as possible and the internal volume halfway down. The pickups are so incredibly powerful.

Your right you dont actually! It was one of Petes few last basses too, very sad. He put the Mk3 neck joint on for me as well. Killer bass !
