Hmmm, could I ask where you came by this information as I would have thought if it is the case then TB comments about China assembly should be updated by Warwick official who stated the China comment, this hasn't been corrected, and I'd have thought It was something to shout about . Interesting when adding this to Molans comment regarding the made in Germany bit in this thread. I'd like to think that German means German, but increasingly names become meaningless with regard to marketing and sales. Still, I'm sure they'll do whatever suits them to stay in the race. For me, I'm not interested in the pro series wherever it's made as the specs aren't what I'm looking for.

Thanks for putting me right :)

    Cheers Pete

I got my info from the Warwick forum. Florin, the forum admin said:

"Pro Series are similar to the older Warwicks. Still made in Germany, woods not from the very best stock of course, but still... from the famous Warwick stock. In order to keep the prices low, some basic works like sanding and painting are outsourced in little shops in the area."

It might be that he's wrong, but Florin normally knows his stuff.

Just been over the "other"place, and it seems the new German pro series basses are put together in China......
They're not, but there's bound to be a whole load of confusion because they keep using similar names for different products. Now, I think I've got this right but it's not easy:

    - The 2013 Pro Series was made in Korea.
    - The 2014 'Warwick German Pro Series' basses were routed in Germany and assembled/finished in China.
    - The new (2015) Pro Series are completely made in Germany, but some of the detail sanding and finishing is being shopped out to smaller workshops rather than the main Warwick factory.
    - Then there's the 90s Proline and Pro-M basses...

  3. The change in manufacturing locations makes sense in some ways, but I'm disappointed that the brass frets have gone, and that they have limited the colour choices. I always really liked the fact that Warwick had a wide range of finishes that was the same across their entire range, rather than the boring and tiny selection of choices available on, for example, the flagship Fender models.

I guess my saving grace (in some ways) is that I'm a fan of the baseball-bat-neck-era 'Wicks, which limits my choice to second-hand instruments made between 2000 and 2008, but then at least there's a good choice of colours.

That's an envelope filter, not a wah pedal. You could probably get a similar sound if you were quick with your feet though.

Timmy C uses a wah in Cochise and I think a few other Audioslave/RATM numbers.

'Calm Like A Bomb' and 'Mic Check' are probably the most well known examples. I think that 'Born As Ghosts' also uses the wah although I could be wrong.

  6. I think that Jamareo is playing Warwicks now. He's certainly got a few of them. He has the 3 Streamers as seen in the Warwick Custom Shop video, but he has some other Custom Shop orders as well.

  7. I joined TB before BC. I like TB because it is so much more active. You can post a thread and go away for 24 hours and when you get back, you are almost guaranteed to have replies, and most likely your question will have been resolved. I mainly only come to BC for the classifieds, and once every couple of weeks or so I venture into the other sections. BC is like the quiet local shop, where everyone knows everyone, but they don't have a massive selection of stuff, whereas TB is like a huge hypermarket, which can be a bit overwhelming and has more stuff than you would ever need, but you don't end up doing half of your shopping online.

  8. If I remember rightly, the last Ernie Balls I had were more of a sky blue. I definitely wouldn't have described them as royal blue. This sort of shade:

But a google image search has also brought up this:

And this link suggests that they could be D'addarios.

Also, I had some Fenders and the wrapping was a shade of green which matched the colour shown in the above link

  9. There's a nice looking orange Bongo HH in cash converters at the moment for £700. Missing scratchplate. Just a heads up.

So, the Gibson ES-335 Bass then? http://www.thomann.d...335_bass_fc.htm
Yeah, but not for that price! To be honest, if I was going to buy a hollowbody I would get a Warwick Star bass. Got to keep up the fanboi-ness!

  11. I met Paul Turner and he was a really nice guy. We had a lengthy discussion about effects pedals, as he had his Jamiroquai board with him.

Also, when Pendulum first appeared in the charts and Myspace was still relevant, I sent a message to Gareth, their bassist, to enquire about how much of the bass sound was played by him live, and how the sounds were achieved. He sent me a really quite lengthy reply explaining his setup and how it was all integrated with what the rest of the group was doing.

Ah you have solved my quest,I knew one must exist! Are there any more? I can only see that they must have picked up a lefty bass or guitar when starting.
Not exactly the same, but I know a right-handed drummer who plays a left handed kit.

  13. I agree that this new on is not the best looking 'Bird that Gibson have ever done. I don't understand why they don't do the chrome pickup covers any more, and why they don't offer a few more finishes. When discussion about Gibson basses comes up, someone always points out that their bass sales are a tiny percentage of their guitar sales, as if that excuses their poor offerings, but the way I look at it, maybe the poor offerings are the reason for the poor sales.

Personally, I wouldn't own another T'Bird, as they just didn't sound right for me. I'm not a fan of the way that SG and LP basses look, so I wouldn't go for one of those either. I don't know what else they currently make but I think that in terms of what I have seen in the past, the only Gibson instrument I would be interested in would be an ES-type hollow instrument, similar to the Jack Cassidy, but I would really like more than one pickup. Think Guild Starfire sort of thing.
