Hi all
NOW 230£ SHIPPING INCLUDED
For sale my Yamaha BBG4SII. Bought it new as a backup, but no gigs + recent acquisitions mean it probably should go.
It is a rock solid, active bass in virtually mint condition, except for the gold hardware somewhat tarnished (typical of this model, I believe), with two humbuckers and controls for vol/bal/bass/treble. The fretboard is a beautiful piece of rosewood, and it has a great satin neck with nicely figured maple. Stays in tune forever. The E string is particularly resonant, with very positive action. It has a broad range of solid tones, personally I would say it lends itself mainly to pop and rock - it can go from super woody to very snappy on the bridge PU. I would definitely keep it as it is fun to occasionally play, but I am bewitched by hi-fi basses and uncontrollable GAS...
Anyhow, I found it difficult to set a price, so I've followed my rule of 60% of what I paid for it new. So it's 250£, shipping included, with a gig bag. A rockcase semi-rigid would be extra. Paypal accepted.

Thanks for looking! -
Hi
Up for sale my Danelectro Dead on 67 Baritone guitar. I am the first owner, and it's in excellent condition. I bought it because I was curious about baritone guitars, and I love the looks. It wasn't easy at all to find one in this colour, as this has been discontinued! I finally found one in Switzerland. Anyhow, I have too many guitars, so this beauty is up for grabs.
I want 250£ for it, shipping to the UK included. I'll throw in a Vox Amplug AC30 that I don't use for free.
Thanks!

Do you know the nut width and string spacing at bridge?
Thanks -
The most Miller-esque tone I have heard came from an Xotic J and a Carvin SB... Not from any Fender. Go figure. I actually was sorely dissappointed with a MM signature and top of the line US jazz. I guess it just shows how individual each bass is, especially if it has had mods... Same brand, same model, same age and it sounds different...

I recently bought an ACG Finn from Ian and he's great to deal with - highly recommended

I use namecheap.com and, despite the name, I find them excellent

Every piece of advice (and there's some great ones in this thread) should also indicate 'years married' and 'total number of guitars/basses/amps/other bulky gear' as complementary data. These can make all the difference on the tolerance threshold... Imho

International 3-way trade involving Col just completed. Everything perfect, basses were flying around in perfect sync. Col is a great guy to deal with, would not hesitate to deal with him again. The bass was perfectly packed and communication was really easy. Thanks Col!

International 3-way trade involving Raj just completed. Everything perfect, basses were flying around in perfect sync. Raj is a great guy to deal with, would not hesitate to deal with him again. Thanks Raj!

Trade agreed - pending successful completion

I have one exactly like that, an '81
A monster bass! -
Why not swapping necks with the fretless? Are they the same dimensions? I would be interested... bump for a very nice unusual finish

Just bought Ian's ACG. Perfect! A truly pleasurable transaction. Bass came exactly as described. Would not hesitate to deal with him again. Highly recommended.
Cheers Ian! -

The obvious would have been a duel, right? Puts out a show, and gives space to each other. Also, can somebody please take that fuzz pedal away from LG. The man who stole our beloved dirty Prince from us... Unforgivable

Bump
No rush in moving this on, but a trade in the works -
I would start trying to know what's the reason, and whether you indeed lose volume or it is only a *perceived* lack of volume. If you only use your G string sparsely when fingering, maybe it indeed puts out less signal but you hadn't noticed, and you may need to adjust the action and/or the pickup(s) height on the treble end. If your amp is already compressing, fingered notes may be perceived as louder than strumming chords or slapping on the attack portion of the note. You may also try a heavier gauge on the G string. If all that fails, then an EQ pedal or transparent booster will help to transiently boost your signal. Compressors are generally trickier to set, may colour your tone and they are typically on most of the time. They will detract from your dynamics, so you should make sure what you really want is to even out all your playing, or just a temporary boost (e.g. if the slap is for a solo or a bridge). A boost however may drive an amp into clipping and create distortion, which can be distressing if you're playing through the house amp at each venue. So I would check that the bass is set up right first. Then maybe get both a compressor and an eq/booster, to be ready for a variety of situations?

Bump for a pretty unique instrument

Hi all,
For sale is my LeFay Remington Steele. I got this from BCer extraordinnaire wombatboter a few months ago, in hopes that this would be an even better fretless than my Zon Sonus. It is indeed an amazing instrument, and the tones and sustain are fantastic, but I didn't realise that the fretboard's extra high register would get in the way of my usual right hand position (especially for popping), which is closer to the neck. I have tried to adapt but I guess I'm too old to change in any significant way... So up for grabs is what could probably be a 'poor man's hyperbass'.😊

The bass is in excellent condition, just as it was delivered to me, with just minuscule dings that need a detective to be discovered.
It is a 4-string, passive instrument, with controls for volume, tone and a 4-way selector that I suspect is for selecting coils of the single humbucker PU, and both in series or parallel - it seems to be a custom instrument (or an early version) and I have precious little info, so apologies!
The official LeFay page is here:
http://www.lefay.de/english/bass_remingtonsteele.html
And a video of wombatboter (great player!) playing this very instrument here:
http://youtu.be/GmGhuJCYDrQ
I'm asking 1900£ for it with a hard case, which is approximately what I paid for it used - half the price of a new one. Delivery to the UK included.
Not really looking for trades, although a similar high end fretless that I can slap on would be tempting.
Thanks! -
You can buy it Oli, then ship to me! 😁

Sad... I remember I had the chance to help as roadie for the Clarke/Duke Project in a jazz festival in Andorra many years ago. I think I still have a copy of the rider, stage map, etc. That was a great gig, Stan as always doing his thing down with the crowd, only limited by the length of his cable! I guess I was really young then... Must have been 1989-90, cause I also saw Miles Davis live in the same weekend...

Pity you're not shipping this, I might take it as I'm in 'buying mode' now. I did try one of these years ago (single PU model) and it's one of those basses you don't think much of at first sight and can't put down afterwards. Fun to play.

Cause the D and (especially) G strings are completely mis-aligned with the pole pieces? 😊
