I'm pretty sure I saw a Fender Musicmaster at Treblerock in Clifton, Bristol at the weekend. If I remember rightly it was going for about £560 ish (definitely £500-and-something).

Yes you did! I Googled Treblerock and it's on the site. Good knowledge! Thanks

I've turned my attention to Mustangs now, having discovered more about both models. I'm aware I'm probably going to end up spending over the odds in terms of value bass for money, but I'd rather have a bass I consider cool and pretty as I'm 100% more likely to want to use it!

I think that we are missing something here.

All credit to you Jumanji. I think that this is one of the very few times when someone joins the site and asks for advice about BUYING something rather than joining and trying to sell something, then heading for the hills never to be seen again!

Ah well thank you Jez. I am a friend of a moderator "dood" Dan, so I know the annoyance of those types.
However, I do have something to sell... but more trying to get ideas as to what it's worth culturally as well as value, AND if anyone even knows/cares about it enough to even want to buy it...
It's a Dan Armstrong from 74. dood advised me post it in the other equipment section. I'm considering selling it to get a Mustang or Musicmaster bass, hence my beginning this post. so on and so on.

What a scumbag I am!

3. This guitar is a 1974 Dan Armstrong Electric Guitar, it has a sliding pickup. Pictures below.
I'd like to sell this guitar as it rarely gets use.

My knowledge of this guitar is all from http://www.danarmstr...ndonguitar.html. It's an interesting read if nothing else.

The serial number (4465) suggests, according to the website, that it was built in the 4th quarter of 1974 and was the 65th one made in that quarter.

This guitar is a very rare, interesting and specific item, so anyone who finds it on here probably already knows about it. If not, please reply via Basschat or call me and I'll do my best to answer questions.

£2500 o.n.o

Thanks,
Joe.

My local music shop has the same model in the same colour, the serial number dates it to 1976, but its other bits make it 1974-75.
It's in almost new condition with the original case also like new - yours for £700.
One thing to watch with these is the weight - the early 70s are usually light (7.5 lbs), whereas the later ones can be over 10 lbs.
It depends when it was built and which wood pile was used..

.. and surely a heavier wood has benefits in sound quality? So it's begining to sound like my idea of spending 350 is low low low. I need to consider more money or different basses...

5. So, I'm new to Basschat. My friend "dood" recommended I put the feelers out on Basschat, with regard to Fender Musicmaster basses. I really want a shortscale bass as I've not got enormous hands.

There's a Fender Musicmaster bass on eBay that ends its auction tonight at 9pm! So if anyone with any knowledge of these basses sees this in time, any feedback would be ace!

My main question is, does it look like a genuine, original condition Fender USA? I'm aware that it looks a little "done in", but I actually quite like that. Also, I'm also expecting (if and when I bid) for it to sell for around £350. Does this seem like a reasonable price to you?

Here is the link.

Thanks for looking.
Joe.
