  2. Been trying out strings again, these DAddario tapewounds (ETB92) are absolutely lovely - smooth nylon (feels like cotton), amazing to play with great sound - warm but not dull.
However for other reasons I've gone back to my ancient DR strings, so these are for sale.

1 x brand new unopened pack = asking £45 delivered [SOLD]

1 x slightly used (2 weeks old just a few hours of play) carefully cut for a P-Bass = asking £25 delivered [SOLD]

Looking at your settings, I'm convinced that my unit was faulty because at that volume setting the speaker was farting and a rasping noise was present.

it would be a surprise to say the least if Fender put out a seriously expensive signature combo that was awful, I reckon it must be faulty. Have you tried phoning Andertons? I got straight through when I cancelled my order.

  4. @spyder That was probably the ACB50 I ordered from Andertons a couple of weeks ago, I cancelled the order when I received the 'it's ready to collect' email. I had got a bad case of GAS spurred on by the 'cheap' £1499 price and convinced myself it what was I needed for studio recording (I go straight into my UAD unit at the moment).  Sounds like it's best avoided, unless it's just a faulty unit. I've returned things to Andertons before so you should have no issues.

  5. Just bought a set of these which I really like. My A-string is not quite as nicely wound as the others, it's almost like I can see the metal underneath - see images attached.
It doesn't seem to affect the sound much, if at all, but I guess I could get a replacement A-string if it's not up to standard.

Does any one else have a set of these - I wondered if it might just be how the A comes out?!

  6. Andertons were advertising these for £1499 over the weekend, I'd be very interested to try one.

I currently only record bass in the studio (no live) and I DI it straight into my UAD through an Ampeg plugin, but the thought of a real tube amp combo is quite tempting...

My default for the last few years has been to fit TI Flats to all my basses.  I like the feel under my fingers, I particularly like the tension and tone.  However my most recent bass, a '54 single coil P bitsa, came fitted with rounds and I quite liked that extra bite in this instance.  But they were far too high tension to feel comfortable.  I am wondering which rounds would feel similar to TI Flats in tension? Preferably cheap ones :D

I used TI Flats for ages on my P-bass and couldn’t use any others with higher tension (even labella low tension were too much even though I preferred the sound). Switching to round wounds I’ve found DR Sunbeams (lightest possible) to be great for tension & sound but they go dull pretty quick, so I have ended up with DR Fat Beams - stainless steel wrap for brighter growlier tone but round core for lighter feel (hex core DRs are too high tension).

Tried the TI rounds at some point but they are weirdly thin and I seem to recall not liking them at all.

These are leftover from when I was using an Akai S950 which I no longer have, so moving these on.

  9. I had this syncing an MPC to Logic - it is much more accurate than sending out midi direct (it uses samples to convert to midi)

Slightly tricky to dial in but once it's dialled it works fine.

    Require 9v psi (not included)
Some marks but good condition, no box but will be packaged for delivery.

    £30 + £5 post

    From the website:

"The Expert Sleepers USAMO (Universal Sample-Accurate MIDI Output) provides a sample-accurate, jitter-free MIDI output from your DAW.
The MIDI signal is generated by the USAMO software, a plug-in which runs as a virtual instrument (AU/VST/AAX, Mac & Windows), as audio in your DAW. The DAW sends MIDI to the plug-in; the plug-in translates that to audio and sends it to the USAMO hardware, via an output on your computer's audio interface. The USAMO then reconstructs the MIDI and outputs it on a standard 5 pin DIN MIDI socket.

In addition to MIDI note and controller data from the DAW, the USAMO software also generates MIDI clock, Song Position Pointer etc. It can also handle Sysex.

Because the MIDI signals are generated and transported as audio, they are guaranteed to be sample-accurately synced with your audio, and free of the jitter often associated with computer-generated MIDI."

  10. 3Leaf Audio Proton - Version 3. , boutique envelope filter pedal from the USA, based on the Mutron.

Ungigged, and hardly used, excellent condition with just some tiny marks on the underside (no velcro).

Boxed with manual. Sounds awesome but not getting used much so moving it on.

    Needs 9v psi (not included)

Manual says - "The Proton is a modern homage to the classic Mutron III envelope filter. It has a wide frequency response that sounds great with every instrument. Version 3 has increased input sensitivity to work better with low-output instruments, and it adds a tone knob for variable control over the filter cutoff frequency."

  11. Swapped the neck on my P-Bass so this is for sale - it is from a 1983/84 SQ Series Japanese Fender Squier (SQ30571). Beautiful neck - vintage skinny frets with virtually no wear, rosewood board in great condition, some light wear on the headstock. 42mm wide at the nut, thin profile (back to front) I'd estimate 19mm at nut end and 22mm at heel end as it's quite hard to measure.

The neck came with 70's style tuners and I had it re-drilled (by Charlie Chandlers) to fit standard tuners. The back of the neck was lightly sanded to remove the gloss varnish and resealed with two light coats of gun oil - it is perfectly smooth, and plays beautifully, there is not a single ding or dent. Truss rod works fine, neck is straight and true. It is a lovely item, you will not be disappointed!

Looking for £125 + £10 post or fee to collect from KT2

    Any questions please ask.
    Cheers
