1.
Looking forward to joining the forum. Only recently taken up the bass at 56 having started to feel the effects of older age with 6 string LP and enjoying a jam with my nephew's bass. Bought a Squier Jazz Bass and (after consultation with Line 6) feed it through my 30W Spider II with no ill effects so far. Opens up a new world listening for the basslines. Watts-Roy, Entwistle much enjoyed. Heard a great bassline around 06:30 on Planet Rock this Saturday but couldn't get readout of band or title - chorus involved "Rivers running dry" - anyone got any ideas?

  3. Haha wow ! That is one hell of an acclaim to fame Sparky

David, I like that choice. I would take a Byork album, as her nonsensical wailing would probably be the best way to get the attention of passing ships !

    Thanks for the warm welcome

Yea, I've heard some Groundhogs tracks. Quality blues-rock. They're still at it aren't they?
Yea, they split in 04 and are back since 07 I think. McPhee is into playing more of the blues stuff with his wife now but he is playing more proper groundhogs shows soon.

and he now has a myspace with a few tracks up along with tour dates: http://www.myspace.com/tonymcpheethegroundhogs

  6. Hey guys,
I live in Wiltshire and have been playing bass for about 6 months and guitar for 5 years. Im A huge thrash metal fan but am also heavily influenced by blues and latin music such as Santana. I dont know if any of the older guys remember a band called the Groundhogs from the late 60's /70's, they were a rock blues band and had a bit of chart success, but are regarded by many as one of the best rock/blues bands of the era. These guys are basically what I was weened on by my dad along with AC/DC and Sabbath. Im in a metal band at the moment and am loving every minute of it.

Favourite bands : Dream Theater, Queensryche, Pantera, Metallica, The Groundhogs, AC/DC, Sabbath and Santana

Sorry for the life story, glad to join the forums

  7. Hey guys, first post :)

I play bass in a thrash metal band and I need a bass rig to gig in medium sized venues but to keep the price to a minimum as i'm having to fork out for my driving lessons in thee weeks when I turn 17 I have been giging with friends rigs for the past 6 months all trying to sway me to get the brand they back. Ive been looking absolutely everywhere and I really cant decide on what I want. Does anyone have any suggestions on a rig for really max £500 It needs to be fairly loud but not extremely so.

any help would be much appreciated

    Dan
