  1. Hello - very interested. Please call me on Thursday on 07968 054731. Thanks.
  2. Dear Basschatters I have now agreed a sale for this instrument. She's going to a loving home. Thank you for your interest. Gary Lee Johnson
  3. Thank you everyone for your advice and encouragement. Growing up in the Somerset blues delta, I was always told that bit of metal sticking out of the bottom of your bass was a nipple, but maybe the rest of the world is different.
  4. I am selling my Wal bass, which I have owned since 1990. My price is £1350. Although I have been playing the bass since 1978, I am the world's most untechie person, as anyone who has seen me spending the last half hour struggling to figure out how to upload the photos to this post will testify. Bearing this caveat in mind, I can tell you Wal-nuts that it is a passive bass, and the serial number is W2176 (pic attached). I had some correspondence with a Wal expert called Trevor Raggett a couple of years ago and, as I recall, he told me it was most likely made in the early 1980s. It is in vgc, with the usual dinks and scratches for this age, but with one exception, which is a strip of veneer/lacquer (not sure what the technical term is) about 1 inch x 0.5 inch is missing from just by the rear strap nipple (pic attached). I am selling because I switched to playing double-bass in my country gospel band The Johnsons back in 2005, and on the rare occasions I have need of a bass guitar, I have a Yamaha that does me okay. I am based in Somerset but travel to London quite often if the buyer is based down south, so we can exchange easily enough. I only joined Basschat today, but very regular Basschat participant Dominsomerset can verify that the Wal and I both exist, and indeed he has held it in his horny mitts. I will try my best to answer any questions, but you Basschatters out there are likely to know much more about my instrument than I do. 5. Greetings Everyone I'm Gary Lee Johnson, double-bass player for The Johnsons, Somerset's finest eight-piece country gospel band specialising in songs about Jesus, trains and substance abuse. I have joined at the instigation of my chum Dominic, who makes his own twin-necked bass guitars. In addition to owning a souped-up CCB (cheap Chinese double-bass), I own an acoustic bass guitar with knackered electrics, a Yamaha electric bass guitar and an early 1980s Wal passive bass, the latter of which I am about to sell. If there are any other double-bass players in Somerset, I would be happy to hear from them as I only switched to double-bass in 2005. I can do a double slap but am keen to master some more complex rhythms, except I don't know how. Gary Lee Johnson
