Nah, Plimsoles was a word only teachers used, we called em pumps. Bassball boots covered yer ankles and had a rubber disc with a star printed on it over your ankle bone.

Brilliant for putting the shine back, especially the £1 shop stuff that foams up slightly. Cockpit spray works well too.

This is how we used to clean up rexine in the ' reconditioned' radio and tv shop I worked at in the 60s when rexine and tolex were common. dont try itwith paper backed rexine on dansettes though..

1001 carpet cleaner, capful in a saucer of warm water, fairly stiff brush in a circular motion a patch at a time, then wipe it off with a damp cloth. Takes the shine off with all the old grime, so you need to polishit afterwards.

Bad stains come off with car wheel cleaner, but you have to be quick.

Its not a case of couldnt, more of happy with it at this level. I enjoy gigging, but dont enjoy, or even bother practicing much these days.

Played in a tribute band for a while, not really my thing, and I wouldnt set out to see one.
I was very impressed with Dizzy Lizzy though.

Pretty sure mines Matsumoto, the chrome soapbar pups dont look right, but they souned better than the ones Antoria fitted.

Absolutely right.

I have still got an Eros Jazz that I bought new in 73, Plays better than most 70s Fenders, sounds good, was £100 cheaper than the white Precision I wanted at the time.

Not many, if any Squiers around then. Antoria were usually considered the 'good' copies. Cant remember the last time I saw a nice Antoria up for sale.

People pay stupid money for Dansettes thee days. They were never rare, nor were they expensive or of even resonable quality.

Dunno to be honest. How many 18 or 19 year olds ask girls they meet and take home from pubs for ID ? I know I didnt used to.
But once, when I was that age, I did see a girl I'd met in a pub a few nights before standing at a bus stop in a school uniform.

I'm rubbish at it, even after playing for 40years, but I get there in the end. One thing that matters is play it reasonably loud. trying to do it quietly just wont work for me.

Sometimes I cheat, youtube sound is sometimes not great, but you can sometimes see where peoples left hands are.

Aged about 11 I used to hang around behind a club in Brum called the Cavern Club ( spose there was one of them in every town as well ) and can remember the buzz when The Redcaps, and The Undertakers ( another popular name ) were on. Our Redcaps had this guy:
