1. Thanks fellas! That is great feedback. I will look at replacing the Trace cone and keep the Marshall for recording and gigging.... on which note, I need to source a pair of heavy duty 15" cones to fit in the Marshall cab that will hold up to the Marshall head. Any suggestions?
2. Hi, I'm hoping a kind soul will help me with a technical grey area in my life - not women no, but Bass speakers! I run a project studio and some people rehearse here. In the last year someone has blown three cab drivers: - Marshall JCM 800 Bass Series 100w tube head into a custom 2x 15" 16 ohm wired in series Carlsboro Powertone drivers, rating unknown > Both are farting with reasonable bass tone level - Trace Elliott GP7 SM 300 combo 280w RMS / 500w Peak with Celestion C15H-200 8ohm driver > Some small tearing in places. A glue repair worked for a week or two only - Carlsboro solid state 100w head into Soundlab L041F 4ohm 15" 400w 'max power' rating (peak I presume) > General distortion, can't see any tears but it's damaged alright Questions: * Is the Marshall head 100w peak or RMS? * Can anyone recommend replacement speakers for the Marshall and the Trace that will be a 'heavy duty' upgrade to prevent further damage? I don't know if someone is running a synth bass sound through the cabs or what as no-one surprisingly has owned up to the damage, so I'm hoping overrated drivers will be a solution? Best, Benny
3. Hi, I've been using a Peavey MAX160 head in my rehearsal room for people to use. It was a cheap purchase and I expected it to get some abuse but in only a week it has developed a problem With hardly any input gain dialled in (no.1 on the dial!) and a passive bass at half volume on the volume pot, it is clipping the limiter (and making a click noise) when the guitar is played anything other than really softly. A friend said something about people running an active bass through fx pedals can cause this, but I've never come across that before. Has anybody experienced symptoms like this before? Thanks!
4. Hi Bass now sold thank you all for your interest. Now need to sell the Musicman!
5. Hi, it's still for sale on there!
6. Hi Shep, No problem, sorry about that. Here we go: FOR SALE: Unique Custom Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray Electric Bass Guitar £750ono I purchased this guitar from Cranes in Cardiff in 1999 when Richie Jones from the Stereophonics traded it in. I believe he had been using it in the studio whilst recording Performance & Cocktails album. It has been modified from standard bridge MM humbucker to twin jazz pickups, giving a very warm tone. It is in excellent condition with minimal wear and only a few very small marks on the body in unnoticeable places. All comments received on the bass have been positive, and everybody loves the uniqueness, tone and trans-orange sunburst finish with white scratchplate. I am selling it (with strings and hard case - not shown in the pictures) along with my Warwick Fortress One and other equipment to raise funds for my final year of University. I am very sad to be selling these guitars. Item is located in Falmouth, Cornwall. 11. Thanks for all the replies folks. The previous owner was Richard Jones from the Stereophonics, around the time of Performance & Cocktails. I have had it valued at £750 which seems about right to me and in keeping with comments here. Time to put her on Ebay!
12. Thanks for the replies folks. I've uploaded more photos here, with the scratchplate removed. It looks like it is modded. I really like the sound of it, never knew it wasn't factory! https://plus.google.com/photos/107497175547420996184/albums/5691984851690621473?authkey=CIqT7YbltdGzNg I don't know what value to put on it as I've not seen another one like it. It's in excellent condition.

14. 1998 Warwick Fortress One for sale. I'm the original owner, and I purchased it from SoundControl (I think that was it's name) in Birmingham many moons ago. It has some marks but nothing major and plays as it when new, everything is spot on. These are so well made, and the wood is stunning. I have not seen another in this colour. I'm selling this and my Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray (waiting for information on it and to price it correctly) as I rarely play bass anymore, and my life as a student is proving costly :S Please see this post of a similar bass sold recently, and for more information on these basses: http://basschat.co.u...-one-1994-sold/ £350 + courier (or collection form Falmouth, Cornwall) Thanks! Ben
15. Hi, I can't find any pictures or information on basses like mine. Does any have any model info for me please? I think it's a Stingray with Jazz Pickups, but can't ifnd any of these for sale anywhere, or get a an idea of how old it might be? Thanks! Ben
16. Hi, I have a 4 string Warwick Fortress One with AEC pickups, standard unmodified, and an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray that used to belong to Richie Jones of Stereophonics. I don't know how to get proof of this, but I'm working on it. I know it's true as my mate was working at Cranes of Cardiff when it came in and I was lucky enough to get first dibs on it, being a huge fan of theirs at the time (still like them, just not a fanatic of anything anymore... beer maybe the exception). I'm selling them as I no longer play bass much, and am struggling to pay my way as a mature student through the final half of my Music degree. Problem is, I don't have a clue how much they are worth. I expect to put them on Ebay to reach the biggest potential buyers. Any suggestions most gratefully received... pics here: https://plus.google.com/photos/107497175547420996184/albums/5691984851690621473?authkey=CIqT7YbltdGzNg Thanks, Ben
