oh GAS has already started.. im currently in the process of trading my sansamp for an ashdown mag 210 combo as i need an amp.. i think the sansamp is a nicer bit of kit.. but i need something for an upcoming gig. but as im a Huddersfield boy.. i will of course be aiming ultimately for a Matamp GT200

i have lived in huddersfield all my life and never visited matamp, maybe its time!

Hi, i'm firstly a player of the 6 strings of 16 years... (don't hate me) but i have also taken up bass more recently.. i have to admit i initially thought.. 4 strings... chugging along with the rhythm, easy... but i've come to be more interested in the bass.. attempting to learn more techniques, learning about bass rigs. I still have a fair few bass noob questions to band around these boards as i learn. Currently my setup consists of a 1998/99 fender P bass (MIM) and a Sansamp bass driver which i run into some speakers i use as a monitor. Im currently looking at expanding my setup either with pedals, a pod xt or a rack setup... so i will either want to be trading my sansamp in for a bass pod xt or some rack amp gear... or a few pedals.. a lot to consider. I like the idea of a bass rack as i run a guitar rack setup with a nice rack head and a g-major which i am very happy with.. but it would be a slow process saving up for the gear. David.

I'm being told that at the venues in leeds, the fenton etc.. they will not allow the bass player to DI to the board and has to use only the back line. does anyone have experience of this?? isn't it pretty standard for the bass to be DI'd???

i've played guitar for 16 years.. im a guitarist first, then a bassist.. but i only play with a band on bass..no guitar... even though im a better guitarist than both of the lads in my band. strange situation really

thanks guys.. for now i'll have to pick up something like the MXR... and stick with that. I guess from my forthcoming experience i can change/build my setup to suit what i need... but for now i just need something.

Hi, im a guitarist but im taking up bass to fill in for a mates band. I currently just have the bass and practice using my recording interface and my monitors. As i already have a quite expensive guitar amp setup i dont want or have the room for another setup for bass. I have read the sticky at the top of the page about DI into PAs etc.. as a short term solution would it be useable to just get something like an MXR M80, Sansamp Bass DI or Line 6 Bass pod XT live and go straight into the PA.. and thats it.. no bass amp or would i come up against some problems??
