  1. Hey all, had a gig last night with my newly acquired mk500 ashdown amp. Just a question, is it normal for the sound to cut in and out, (coming back on after about 20-30 secs) assuming that it's a feature to stop it blowing? Or could it be that the amp got too hot as the fans may have not had enough space behind the amp? Once I figured that I should take the input down slightly, it didn't do it anymore, but if anyone could tell me that it's supposed to happen, i'll be happy :/ any help much appreciated Lee
  2. thanks for your reply, I have emailed ashdown and will be ringing them shortly...
  3. Hi all, anyone who's going to the London Bass show - have a blast damn you! I've recently acquired an Ashdown mk500 head. Great sound. Used for two gigs and blew me away. But... ...Last night it seemed to blow a fuse. Taking it apart, it's two fuses (fs2 and fs3) on the bass magnifier output that have blown. My worry is that quite a few articles on google are popping up with varying ashdown amps saying that when the fuse is being replaced, it keeps blowing them. Does anyone have any suggestions or have any previous experiences with ashdown and/or these amps? Gutted however it does let me plug an xlr from the pre-amp to the pa so i can use it that way. But I want to resolve the fuse issue. And I have no idea why it blew in the first place. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated Lee
  4. Hi people... The link below is for the sale of my Bass amp on Gumtree, there are a couple of pictures on there. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/trace-elliot-4x10-1210-combo-bass-amp/96214195 I had the combo serviced for £189 in July '10 where it had brand new circuitboards fitted, new knobs and switches, and a new below right speaker. It's still the best amp I've played through for 'plug and play' ability. The reason for sale is because I have just bought an Ashdown MK500 head and Trace 4x10 cab with horn that is lighter and 100w more power. I am happy to drive up to 30 miles or meet halfway as I understand how heavy this beast is if anybody is interested. I'll be sad to see her go but she is a brilliantly reliable amp, highly recommended! Cheers guys You can contact me on 07746515772 or [email protected] at anytime
  5. The day was fantastic and it was a pleasure to meet such wonderful people, and all for the love of Bass; brilliant Thanks to Jon for the couple or so hours talking about techniques, sound, history, influences, bands...couldn't wish to meet a nicer guy and what a fantastic player; I really did learn an awful lot from you mate thanks very much Jake's Theory and Technique tuition was really very, very good and it's funny how important it is to realise that no matter how much you think you know something, there's always something there to be taken away. (rubbish way of putting it lol) Colin, as always; pleasure to finally meet your S2, amazing to play and I'm so happy i've finally managed to dispel the feeling that I would never ever consider getting a 5 string bass, I felt the sound from your rig was stunning, put mine to shame imo! This is my first post and my apologies for not introducing myself on the forum properly, I just haven't had five mins...I want to say thanks to everybody who was there for a lovely day and I hope everyone got home safe...here's to the next one!
