was jamming along to freakout by chic the other day and noticed that when i was playing along to the middle eight section, my bass sounded out of tune, yet during verse and chorus it sounded fine.
would this be an intonation issue and if so, is this something you need to pay the tech people for or is it something that can be sorted at home.
any advice much appreciated, thanx.

yeah its a weird sound he`s getting.
bit softer than slap and pop but more pronounced than fingers, almost like he is flicking across the strings ?

a bit of basic info about myself.............
first picked up a bass about 20 years ago, played for about 4-5 years, gigging the last two of them.
played mainly rock stuff with a plectrum and just got into slap before i drifted outta bass.
out of the blue i decided to buy a bass and amp about 9-10 months ago and am glad i did, its my main hobby now and chills me out.

play now with fingers and also slap.

i am currently into learning disco bass...chic, earth wind & fire, kool & gang etc.
i play fingerstyle and can slap fairly well.
have heard that bernard edwards (RIP) used a technique called CHUCKING!
could anyone explain what this is?
i am refering to the start of EVERYBODY DANCE by CHIC mainly.


also, what is the technique used in the chorus (the D bit) of I`M COMING OUT by DIANA ROSS and who is the player?

first bass...sattelite short scale in sunburst.
first full scale...kay precision copy, heavy as hell!
first "quality" bass...squier jazz bass.

mine was warhead by uk subs, quickly followed up by nice n sleazy by stranglers and n.i.b. by black sabbath.
all on a short scale sattelite bass!
