1. In my opinion you are looking for a 300 - 500 Watt Head with a 4x10 Cab or 2 2x10's.

not necessarilly the easiest to cart around but if you end up playing gigs with other bands, being able to share a cab and everyone run their head through it will make you friends with sound engineers on tight stages.

  2.
Or you can hail him by drawing a backwards Bass Clef on the front of your torch, then shine it up to the sky!
I may have to try this, only in desperate hour of need mind, but may still have to try this... :)

  3. it looks like I definitley can make this!

    I can bring,

    Basses

2 MIM passive Jazz V Basses (2001 and 2006) a Jazz V 24 Deluxe and my Jaguar Baritone Custom and my Ibanez 5 string acoustic and despite it being in a bad way I may bring my Epiphone EBM 5.

    Amp

SVT 4 Pro and 610 HLF

and my pedal board with whatever is on there at the time.

    if that interests anyone?

  4. I follow him on twitter he is a genuine and articulate and intelligent person who one day I hope to be able to buy a drink for.

you can find him on twitter as @SoloBassSteve and I recommend following him just to get a constant influx of ideas and info on stuff that he is doing.

  5. I appreciate I am a few days late to this.

I have an Ashdown Mag 300 H head that you can borrow as long as you are able to collect from High Wycombe (and return it too) as I'm not heading out Oxford way any time soon.

drop me a PM if this is of interest.

  6. Just recieved the MIM Jazz V from Ben, top quality seller here on BassChat,

clear and prompt communicator, which I reckon resulted in no hitches in the transaction.

also managed to get the bass to me before I went on Holiday and in a short time span,

    Awesome!

    thanks

    Barny

  7. Does anybody have the Bass Clef for 'Sweet Child Of Mine' by Guns N Roses?

tried a search of here and a couple of the site linked to from here (fantastic work BTW to those of you who have these huge resources)

i've been asked to learn it for a celebration and thought I'd use it as an excercise in improving my Reading.

must have it really by December 2010.

  8.
...As for TFT, awsome band...
I assume you meant TFF rather than TFT here? its funny that that stuck out for me as my Band is abbreviated as TFT.

the best way of telling if it is the re-mastered copy of TEN or not is to ask yourself, 'is this on the shelf at HMV?'

but I believe there is a (P) date that is 2000 and something or another. rather than 1992 (ish) from the original.

<Blatant Plug> if you like Pear Jam, check out my band, you might like us as well</Blatant Plug>

  9. :) I may be slightly odd in this, but to stop other strings ringing out in sympathy I tend to use my left hand to mute the strings I'm not playing on my 5's.

but I don't play all songs with my fingers.

that said if you are a fingers player this 'Floating Thumb Technique' (sounds like a secret Kung Fu strike  ) is a pretty good one to get into anyway I find that (if it is what I think it is) it helps with consistency in my plucking hand.
  10. I've owned my EBM 5 since the 1990's when I bought it new (one of the few blessings of the Student Loans Company)

it was my first 5 string bass.

I know it is the earlier version with all the tuning pegs facing down, later they switched to a 3 over 2 headstock.

mine has been taken out of regular gigging abotu 2 years ago as it was starting to not get a sound I liked and I couldn't afford to get it overhauled.

    things have changed

so before I get it overhauled I was wondering if anyone knew anything else about these basses or if there are any specific things I should know before spending money on it.

any other infromation about them would be welcome also.

    thanks

    Kraken.

  11.
The SVT610HLF is the finest cab ive ever owned, simples! It does weigh a bit, but dont let that put you off as it does have big sturdy castors, a towel rail for pushing/pulling it, and skid rails on the back. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough, wish id bought one years back - would have saved me a costly cab buying journey! Its ported as well, I have had no problems being heard anywhere... ever... fills a room with bassy goodness. It handles tops beautifully as well and you can tinker with the variable tweeter setting to get what you want coming out of it.

 i love it long time, as you might have guessed
+1

Stag has basically nailed it, I let other people run their heads through mine quite regularly (means I get to use my 610HLF and SVT4Pro at most gigs) and I've not heard one head sound bad through this cab yet.

decent frequency response (wider than the 810) in a cab that can be wheeled into and out of most places with ease. Just be careful lifting it on your own.

  12. Have to agree with rmshaw37 on the 15's

maybe what you are after is a 610hlf or a 410hlf

    but to answer your question.

I think the difference between the B- and SVT- cabs tends to be that the SVT Cabs can handle a bit more power.

please don't quote me on that as I can't proove it.

  13. I bought a PBDDI to use as a switch between Basses and as a decent Preamp before I got my SVT4.

I've now set the Graphic on the SVT4 to be footswitchable and using that to select between the basses and as I'm using the FX loop on the Amp using the DI on the back of the head.

beyond using it as a preamp again when I don't get to use my own amp (which does still happen occasionally)

how would you folks recomment I use my PBDDI now? and what settings would you recommend?

    thanks

for me this is the winner!!! I shall be getting some Blu-Tac and Cocktail umbrellas in the very near future! :)

    Is this still available?

I'm in Portsmouth on Thursday and would be willing to collect.

the link doesn't appear to have any info anymore

How big is it? how heavy is it? how many power outputs does it support?
