Proper cab for budget money (as long as it's fully working obvs!) and not crazy heavy either.

Well, I've gone and bought it now, so I'll report after I've had a good play through it!

I think (not 100% and can't see from the photos) that it's the version of the D210 that has the tilt back function which is a fair few kg lighter than the older model. Looks like "D210MBX" to my old eyes.

    I think you're right.

Now I'm thinking it's too good to be true!

There's an old Eden 2x10 I was watching on eBay for £150, seller sent an offer for £139. Even with postage it's a good deal.

I've got that offer, currently having a good look at it!

Part of the difficulty is not being able to try it. Postage is great, but that means buying sight unseen.

  4. So, if you had to go cheap, and reasonably heavy wasn't a problem, what old school cab would you look for? I'm seeing Ashdown ABM 115s, some 210s and the odd TC Electronic 115, 212 and 210. Some Fender Rumble cabs and a fair few Peaveys, but they seem to be mostly Headliners (their cheapest) or 80s and 90s cabs.

  5. Yes, too much cab and way too heavy for me, but if you were buying it for a rehearsal room or studio, bloody hell it would be great value!

I'm in the market for something cheap, which was why I saw it, and that basically means heavy. But that was in another league!

I sent mine into Ashdown and Dave swapped the volume pot for a smooth one for me.

Mine ended up going back a number of times as the issue kept coming back.

Dave eventually swapped it for an RM800!

Weirdly, I don't find the detents an issue on the 800.

I have only used the cab at home but sounds really nice so far. Nice top end and good response, but think I’d like another one or a 15 to go with it for gigs so I’m not pushing it too hard. I play in a 7 piece with brass, so a lot to fight through.

    Cool.

I'd love your insights after a full band run. I'm constantly looking at old and weird solutions. The RM cab would just be easy if it's good.

  8. I thought I was heading downhill after moving country and a couple of local ish groups didn't work out.

Answering one advertisement changed everything. Despite not having done anything significant in 14 years, I'm now in a band with talent and aspirations that I had pretty much given up on. You really never.know what's out there!

It will have 22 frets and single pole-piece pickups from the Suhr era. Great basses……..very musical preamp/pickup combination, which is rare for Fender

It's definitely got single pole pieces and I've always found the preamp fantastic for dialing in tones. Sounds ridiculous, but I've never counted the frets!

Modern switching power supplies switch at high frequencies to avoid causing problems in the audio band.

If the keyboard psu and yours are connected via the mixer, what you may be hearing is some form of beat note from the two psu's differing frequencies.

Changing one of the PSU's may cure it.

    David

I wasn't through the desk, though, only the keyboard was.

  11. First rehearsal with a Madonna cover project. My pedal's power supply caused a clicking through my amp when the keyboard was plugged into the PA (!), so I had to play all the lines clean and not using the carefully crafted synth-type sounds I'd created.

Songs went well, we all clicked and all are keen to put some effort in to take it further. Result!

  12. I had my first rehearsal with a new band tonight. While setting up, the keyboards got plugged into the PA and immediately I could hear a thick ticking sound coming from my amp. I eventually isolated it to the power supply for my Boss GT1-B. It was a super cheap one.

I've never had anything like this before. Is it new power supply time? Or was that a freak occurrence?

Anything Warwick is a superior product. I just gave away my Warwick Steamer. it  was a beautiful bass with an incredible sound. I hadn't played it in years so I passed it on to someone who'd appreciate it. :)

Are their cabs on a par with their basses? I used to play a Profet 3.2 which, apart from being a bit under powered, I absolutely loved.

From that seller I'd rather go with the Warwick 2x10 for 25 quid more.

Is that in Trowbridge? That's four hours drive from me! There are some Warwick 115s pretty cheap - are they any good?

Basically, I'm looking for an old school, heavy, unwanted cab that I can capitalise on and sound good. Oh, and for peanuts!

  15. All of this is true! Thank you.

It's for sale for £65. If my Eden doesn't cut a full band (which I'd be surprised if it did) then it might be worth a really lowball offer just to tide me over until I can get something better.
