  1. Back in Nov 2011 I found a 66 RI for sale here in the classifieds. Candy Apple Red, Baddass bridge, custom pickups, plus the orginal Jap ones, a hard case, dots and binding. The only downside was that the previous had tried their hand at relic-ing. Being a bit of a Fender Japan junkie I couldn't say no. A deal was done and bass was shipped to my address in the UK. Being as a now live in Oslo and wasn't back till Christmas some time passes....

When I finally got to play the bass I was a happy man. With only a few days back in the UK i decided that I would try and tidy the relic work and strip the bass of the badass and Shed pick ups. Previous owner said there were modelled after geddy lee's pick ups. Not being a rush fan i decided to move them on.

    Tear down in process

The relic work was very crude. The seller admitted this in the add so I had a crack at tidying it. Also there it was in places you would expect to see wear.

The plan was when i was next back was to white primer the bare wood and install pick ups and original style bridge.

Somewhere down the road I decided that I had to many basses and guitar and had to thin the herd. Also around this time we we looking to buy a new house and stuff had to go :( The bass was sold to my Uncle.

So here it is, a wonderful bass guitar that I stupidly let go over 20 years ago. Just last week I was having a bit of a window shop and couldn't quite believe my eyes as I appeared to be looking at my old bass.

I messaged the seller and we ended up having a really good conversation on the 'phone about the bass and sure enough the details of the instrument and it's history matched up perfectly.

I've a good knowledge of the instrument so have a very good idea of it's true value, but of course as I'm not the owner of it and as much as I would dearly like to be, that's not something I wanted to get involved in.

As I watch the ebay auction for the last hours I can't help feel just a little bit sad to see it but I won't get a chance to play, see or even own it again.

I hope it's in great shape and the new owner gets pleasure from it, but I guess this is a farewell.

early 60's script on the head stock and old style tuners. Holes for ash tray but none vintage bridge. Some sort of early fullerton RI?

  3. Hi all,

I have a set of Nordstrand NJ4 pickups they appear not to be working. I have put a mulitmeter on the connections where the wiring is attached and i get no reading, I tried the same on another set of pickups and i got a reading so the meter is good.

The wiring seems to be connected and the copper wire is attached on the connections. I have tried them in the bass and nada.

Any thoughts oh where to go now? I am gutted to find these arent working

    /Mike

There's a cash adjustment of £150 coming my way on top of the trade as well to even out against my asking price, which I found to be pretty fair.

Im not sure how much Stingrays go for but that sounds like too little coming your way. I don't think Id pay more than 500 for the Jazz. Aimho

But people coming up and having the brass neck to offer you half of what you ask for (particularly when I don't think I'm being unreasonable in the first place) is irritating. I completely agree with 40hz above me whose reply came in as I was typing this.

There was a bass listed in the for sale section beck before Christmas and I assume the guy listing it at what he thought it was a reasonable price. I thought it was very over priced and offered him what i though it was worth. Around 50% or the advertised price. He turned me down very curtly. I wished him good luck with the sale and left it.

Bass is still for sale and almost at the price I offered him. Still no takers

So was being a lowballer? Or offering what the value of the guitar was worth?

  6. I think its a great idea and would be certainly interested in one. The fact I can use it as a music steaming device is a big plus. A down side is the apple only support. If they music stream quality is as good as they claim i don't see an issue with the price either. Compare it to Sonos or a Bose system.
