  1. Set List Maker - Used this on ships. Has all of our song library on, as well as all of our predefined set lists. As well as grouping the songs into genres e.t.c - Super handy if someone asks for a certain style and you have over 500 songs and one doesn't spring to mind.

iRealPro - Great for jazz and transposing charts, saved my ass sooooo many times.

That's not actually true. The difference is the dep has to do the same thing in a lot less time.

With most of the deps I do I'm familiar with many of the numbers and getting my head around new numbers, new arrangements and old numbers in different keys is a great musical education. Also playing with a new drummer is always a great experience.

    This.

  3. You get what they offer you, otherwise someone else will do it.

Depping, for me is mainly about networking, do a good job and you'll no doubt get asked back.

Last week, phone call Friday night for bass dep at a disco gig the next day £200. 41 song set, lots of new songs to learn, and the ones I did know where all in different keys/structures e.t.c

Pain in the arse, but it's all good fun. Keeps you on your toes!

Unfortunately not. I find my Mono M80 case very uncomfortable to wear on my back for any significant distance, and I know I'm not the only one with that problem. Also while it was the lightest of the new breed of semi-rigid cases when I bought it, it's very bulky compared with a standard £40 padded gig bag.

Ah. I've had my Mono Vertical for a few years now. Been all round the world, on and off planes, ships e.t.c and It's not even got a scratch on it, it's fantastic.

    10 years online!
I have made a new website for the occasion. Check it out!
And of course, I didn't forget to post a new transcription as well

    Good to hear they're useful!

I use an old version of Sibelius for writing things out, other than that it's spotify > vox headphone amp > cheap headphones.

If I'm working on something that's really complicated then I'll use Quicktime 7 or the Tempo Slow iPad app to slow things down and loop sections.

    No midi keyboard?

So how do you tell if a song is in C or A minor? And does it matter?
    [/quote]

You can usually tell by the notes that are played.

Both keys will use the tonic/third/fifth more than the other keys (which is standard), but the minor key will use the 3rd a lot more than the major key.

    E.g - In C Maj - C E G
    - In A Min - A C E
