1. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!

ARGH!!!!!

ARGHHHH!!!!!!!

BWARRRR!!!!!!!!!

I just spent the money I could have used to buy this bass on a seriously cool Leather jacket.
I've just made myself so depressed :).

I nearly swore my heart out, before collecting myself

2.
Have you tried the bass yet? Does it feel immediately right for you? These are the questions I'd be asking, because it's not worth getting into debt if it's just something you fancy at the time. Obviously I'm in a different position now (almost 40) but I always make sure I have saved the money to buy things and never borrow or use credit cards. I was in a similar situation to you when I was 20. That's when I bought my first really good bass. I also took out finance to buy it over three years, but if you're a student, make sure you can really afford to make the repayments. I was able to afford it at the time, as I was working at the same time as studying. That's all I'd say. Perhaps sell one of your others to help fund it as well?

I believe I am capable of of paying for it, I hardly go out drinking (I find it boring) and I hardly spend much one food (about £20 or less a week). On top of this my family send me £70 a week.

I've tried this bass, and yeah, it feels right for me, I love the shape, the sound and the general feel to the bass. Its may fave bass I've played. I'll be heading to the music shop (PMT in Leeds, which I think was a sound control before now) tomorrow, so I'll get some more details then.

3. Dispite being a student (which I'm sure people know is a poor occupation), I have come across a limited edition Musicman Stingray. I am very close to seeing if the music store which has the bass, does a weekly-monthly payment thingy mahbob. If they do, and I can get a good deal out of it, then I'll take it. What do you guys think of a desperate situation like this?

Here is of the bass in question.

Does anyone here have any experience with this bass, also, what makes it limited edition other than the colour and the hardcase?

4. Well, I played a Stingray yesterday, and all I can say is WoW!!!! It was such an awsome instrument! Sounded and felt awsome, was using it through the same amp (Trace 1215) as the Spector, and it was much nicer, it sounded so much clearer.
If my student loan wasn't going to my Room rent, I would have bought it there and then hehe.

5. I tried one of these earlier on today. And I was disappointed, I dunno what it was about it, but I just couldn't get to grips with the bass. The body was tiny, neck seemed out of proportion with the body, it even felt cheap tbh. Yesterday I tried a £250 bass (can't remember the name), and I felt that it played better.

I was hoping it would be so much better, and it was a very large let down. But thats probably one of the reasons I was very disapointed, that I had too high expectations of the bass.

I'll just stick with my big bodied basses (the way basses are meant to be hehe).

6. Dunno, might do, don't think so though. Compressors are there to stop you bass changing volumes, keeps an instrument in check when playing with a band. Or something like that.

I'd suggest just going for a Trace of similar size to your ashdown. They both seem to be going really cheap, which could be handy.

7. mhm, I just remembered people talk about Ashdowns like Marmite, either you love them or don't.
If you know anyone close by on here I'm sure they'd let you try your head in their Cab (mhm, you could make a sexual reference out of that one)

I get a crisp punchy tone out of my Trace, low and high with no mid mud.

8. So this is the bassline:

----------------------------
----------------------------
-3333-2----3-33-2-----------
----------------------------
---------3----------3-------

And:

-----------------------------------
-------------------5---------------
--------5-8----------8-5-7---------
---5-8---------5-------------------
-8-----------8---------------------

(I'm using a 5 string hehe)

9. Thanks for the help hehe. Still having abit of trouble with it hehe. Also, what is the bass during the bridge, is it just playing around with a simple scale?
Most of the songs on the album have brilliant basslines. War has a cracking line. I wish there were more tabs/sheet music around
