1. ADA MB-1 220v BASS Preamp NO LONGER AVAILABLE I think I have the original 110v transformer, but I will have to look for it before making any promises. I'm located in the Netherlands but will ship worldwide.
 2.
Thanks Longhair. I know I want something like a jazz neck vs a fat precision neck. Have also been thinking about a shortie as the change in neck length probably takes more getting used than neck diameter. But getting a quality versatile shortie seems unlikely, so I'll have to compromise somewhere. I tried an Epi EB0 and liked the thump but nothing else comes out. Full of clarity and detail it is not. Don't know much about the Ibanez range so any pointers for these and Yammies would be much appreciated. Or come to that, any other well made comfortable and versatile instruments.
No real pointers on Ibanez. I tend to gravitate towards them because it was my first real bass way back when... At one time I've had too many basses for my own good - Aria Pro II, Charvel, Kramer, Jackson (all late 80's / early 90's) and keep going back to the Ibanez RD707. Life happened to where I stopped playing and 20 years passed before I picked up a new Ibanez SR500 bass. Not too long after that I found an Ibanez RD727 (different inlay as the 707) off of ebay and sold the SR500. Today I am trying to teach myself how to play guitar and re-learn bass without all the bad habits of before not to be in a band or anything, just for myself and the computer.
 3. Ibanez have some seriously thin necks which may help you transistion from guitar to bass easier. Your best bet is to take your guitar with when bass shopping and then see how easy it is for you to go back and forth between the two with little adjustment time.
