Thanks for the input guys, but the 800RB has been returned to its former keeper ... turns out it's goosed beyond what I'm willing to deal with.

he can sell it to me if he wants... -
I don't think it's pre-lawsuit era, wrong headstock logo.

I spoke with my son's high school band director last night. The band owns a Jazz Bass. Last year, there were significant intonation problems, and the bass's pitch was indistinct due to the inherent phase cancellation. I offered to build him a Precision Bass for tighter focus and he accepted. Actually, a PJ is probably best for a gigging musician, both pickups to be used in thin mixes like cocktail combo, and just the P for denser mixes like big band or horn rock band. But because the school only uses electric bass in big band and marching band sidelines roles, I'll just make it a P.

sounds like it just needs a setup, but cool that you get to build something! -
ebay drama is up there with game of thrones imo

Very brave to go with a 99p start and no reserve, don't you think..?

Yeah but he's taking offers. Ebay is basically gumtree now. See something you like, get in touch, they'll pull the ad for the right price. Makes sense as a seller if you want to save £150-250 on ebay fees for a nice vintage piece. -
yep these are outstanding. got one about 2 years back for £80 of gumtree. served me well. not much to look at though. mine had the paddle headstock.

yes i know how you play it, just wondering HOW you play it...
-

wow those mighty mite necks are really cheap, tempted.
-
cool thanks everyone, I'm thinking of going for a warmoth... are they worth the extra cash?
-
I'm really into those slab bodies too
-
Thanks Si, any good dealers in the UK for this stuff?
-
Hi,
Considering making a frankenbass, but haven't attempted before. Few questions...
Can I assume that any 4 hole neck will fit a 4 hole body (fender style?). ie can I put a jazz neck on a 51' shaped body?
Also - where is a good source of quality necks? High range? -
I think it's standard guitar tuning: EADGBE
But really up to the user i suppose.... -
Love my ric, but I've had to adapt my style to it. Which has been a good thing because I hadn't been playing bass for long before I got it (played guitar before). So now the way I play and the way my band sounds is directly tied into that one instrument and it works really well. I play very mid sounding, lots of chords, and predominantly on the A and D strings. I don't feel limited, but I have what I consider to be my own sound and style now. Matamp head helps too.
But i wouldn't recommend a ric to another player. Well maybe I would, but I'd definitely tell them what they're getting themselves in for. -
my bad! I've been wanting to add a 2nd compact to my rig for a while...
-
Does the compact have 2 I/O in the back?
-
who's the lucky ***** that got this?
The next "big thing" in bass development?

I think more of the bigger names will get into lightweight cabs - not just neo loaded, but overall lightweight design like Barefaced.
