I think the issue here isn't so much the work being done to the guitars, as much as the fact that the people doing it in this instance are charging triple the market value for the privilege of owning 'relic', when in reality it's just been attacked with a belt sander, the pointy end of a claw hammer and some lighter fuel -http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d415d244a- here we have a no-name strat with a poorly applied Fender logo and a lot of damage selling for £249 when the overall cost of the guitar was likely closer to £60 tops, and including the Fender decal.

Can see why now? Don't feel so bad about it

I also do a bit of teaching at a small music school in Surrey, mostly young kids wanting to learn 1D songs, but I WILL put an end to that..

    Ayup!

Please await post from Bass Tractor.

    It is the law.

That made my day! But without him people wouldn't feel welcome to the site and unloved! I remember the Bass Tractor welcoming me on my entrance to BassChat and it was awesome! Made this place seem friendly! :)

  3. Looks interesting but not really my ideal festival. Leeds and Download for me! (Glastonbury would be nice as well if it was closer and if was able to get tickets) Does have some interesting names to it I have to say like Elton John, Fleetwood Mac but I don't really listen to any of them.

Totally with you on this, both albums are great. I really like the baseline for 'Calm Down'. I saw them on there last tour with Mallory Knox supporting, great live band.
Yeah Calm Down is great but I really like ambulance a lot to!

Need to correct you on Don Broco, the tracks on the album are recorded by the old bassist (forget his name) and where played on a Warwick double buck 4 atring which was detuned to drop D for most songs. They're roots are in some weird screamo modern metal. Check out Thug Work out for old old stuff, and check out the big fat smile EP, amazing tracks on there for bass playing, beautiful morning is my favourite.

Tom Doyle is a great bassist though and playing what they play while being so active on stage is incredible. And both him and the old guy are on my top list of fav players.
Yeah I know that, when I listen to Thug Workout, I was like "Ok...." but I still liked it. (Love the music video). I knew that they had a new bassist but I thought he left a while before Priorities, but I'm wrong! Still a great bassist though but I swear I've seen a live video of him playing the B string. Anyway you can add Luke Rayner to the list then as unheard bassists. (Old Don Broco bassist)

  6. To be honest with you, I'm bored but the whole idea of this is not underrated bassists (it may seem like it, but it is not to me) but bassists (in a band or solo) which show great potential or do a great job in fulling their role. Whether this be by cool rifts or a brilliant display of skill, with more potential to become better. I'm going to get things started with two of my favourite bassists.

    Tom Doyle - Don Broco
This guy has style and awesome rifts. It is hard to describe without listening to it but it quite funky but also rocky. To me it shows a bit of diversity in his abilities. A weird thing he does is use a 5 string, when the guitarist uses a 6 string guitar, but it is also peculiar in that genre of music. I've never seen someone use a 5 string in this Brit Rock/Pop-Punk style of music before. If I did, it was probably due to a tribute band and the bassist was used to a 5 string but never used the B string, but he does! It is part of the reason why I find him so good.

    Luke Prebble - Canterbury
My favourite out of the two and one of my top ten bassists at this moment. He is very talented when I heard the chorus of Diver, I instantly feel in love with it. Most of it is quite good and is a good example of there can be brilliant bassists in that genre. It is not that one song has a good bassline feel, it is most of them. I have only listen to one song where is it simple and a bit boring (one of their bests though) but this can easily be forgiven as he always makes him self heard through the other instruments.

(Wait for the chorus at 1:03)

So, tell us all who you think is an upcoming bassist of the future or really good unheard ones.

You can get a bass and amp good enough to gig for £500. It's not an expensive hobby as hobbies go, and you certainly don't need to be wealthy or well-paid to do it.
Depends who you are really, as I'm 16 so to get £500 takes a while and working is not ideal as I have to study, but when I'm older and have a job that wouldn't be too bad I guess. It depends who you are.

  8. A 43% increase is not really fair and doesn't look good. They are really just saying "hey, bassists, we don't really care about you." Even though the market is smaller for bass strings shouldn't they one, be the same percentage increase as the guitar strings, you would still make if the same percentage of profit probably, two would it make that much of a difference as yes material costs are going up but the 43% seems too much and is going to drive so people away.

  9. I don't, I'm a bedroom player so there is no money. I was part of a band put we didn't gig as it was just for fun and we did have a drummer later on. I have made a total of £150 doing 2 shows though so it is not that bad. At the end of the day I'm 16 so there is not much money for me to make any way.

  10. I could see all honest intentions but if I had to pay I don't think that I would bother. If there is a membership fee I wouldn't mind if they got bonuses or perks, or even me getting some things taken off me. As long as I can use the main site for free as it would continue to bring in more members which is good.

Maybe he upped his game. I saw them from the upper circle last year in Manchester so could see down on the stage and while the guitarist had a killer board, the bass player had nothing but a tuner. About time he dabbled more!

I swear I have seen videos of Chris even doing a wired dance to Arguing With Thermometers to the DubStep bit! Well you have seen them more recently than me so you would be a master. I'm also a fan of those pits! :D

In about 10 years, when you have finished the 30 pages of that thread, you can also glance at this - http://www.sheponbas...iv-filters.html - An article I wrote about filters and how they work. It covers some details and examples of envelope and Low Pass Filters, which will form the core of synth tones and Dubstep wobble.

Yay! I can't wait! :( Nah! I'll bet it will be great to read, especially since exams are over for me so I have 11 weeks to kill

Stuff like a nice gated synthy fuzz (iron ether oxide/mxr blowtorch etc) with something like an OC2 (or in my case - oc3 in oc2 mode) in front of it.

Then play quite high on the fretboard. You'll get a fair few responses, theres quite alot of organic bass wobblers on here. Take a look at the OBW facebook also.

I was thinking that, but I wasn't sure it would work. I'll guess I'll have to do some investigation into that when I get some money!
