1. I have just finished rebuilding a 1964 version...I think it has gone very well, but had to use a modern Hipshot bridge as I lost the Ebay auction!!
2. I have just fitted a set of dots to an ex-fretless P bass neck, which has been fretted ! Nice set of black dots into a maple neck...take a nice sharp 6mm drill bit, mark carefully and drill to a depth of 4mm then smooth off any sticking up with a scraper !! couple of coats of clear coat...job done ! Dave
3. thanks for the welcome folks ! d
4. Greetings everybody! I have been pretending to play bass for over 10 years now...and still learning ! My main work horse is a lovely Carvin AC40 acoustic bass I picked up at the Carvin factory just as I started to play bass. I have since modified it by fitting a nice magnetic pickup plus a blend and boost circuit so the piezo undersaddle pup still works ! I am also a Luthier and seem to be doing more and more basses these days! They must all be getting to be a the TLC age Nice to find such a lively bunch of players & looking forward to the banter Dave
5.
Hi, I have done a few paint jobs..no airbrushing yet (still learning) here are some pics of previous jobs and one still underway: The Rickenbacker is the latest job, total repaint and refurbishment. The Fender Mustang is still ongoing, the Mustang logo was going to be airbrushed, but at £250 for that alone (by someone else) I went for a waterslide transfer that will look great once it has been clear-coated. The EVH look-a-like was a pain of a job to do...all that masking and trying not to get black bleeding under it onto the yellow...aargh! Dave www.axshack.co.uk Hmm, I uploaded the photos, but dont know where they are!!! try this link to my flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/axshack2/sets...ith/5762919780/
Ah! I see them now...there you go
6.
Hi, just wondering if any one out there knows any quality air brush folks who have done custom paint jobs on guitars? Photos of work done would be a great help as well. Cheers!
Hi, I have done a few paint jobs..no airbrushing yet (still learning) here are some pics of previous jobs and one still underway: The Rickenbacker is the latest job, total repaint and refurbishment. 7. Hi All, yesterday a customer brought in a highly modified P Bass that has been breathed on by the AMPRO custom shop some time in the dim and distant past. See Photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/axshack2/5762.../in/photostream Does anybody know anything about these folks, particularly just what they might have done to this bass guitar? the AMPRO cavity on the rear does house a battery, and i believe that the toggle switches activate the pickups (I have yet to play with it) but if anyone out there has seen this setup before, or knows anything about it, I would be very grateful for the information (before I take it to pieces and give it some much needed TLC) Regards Dave www.axshack.co.uk
