  1. Interesting listen Nick with very little reference to modern rock/pop (I don't recall a bass guitar being mentioned). It concentrates on the physics of sound and importance of the bass part in the development of music.

This, however, may describe my playing better...😉

Do you know, when I pressed "buy it now" for £26.99 free shipping I thought "that was too easy"

    Such is life.

Just had the same experience after reading this thread. After initial slow 'lost in post' response I was offered a refund or the Mooer pure octave for the same price. I accepted and it was delivered next day. It's tiny but seems well made and sounds good so far (only played with for about half hour) and seems to track low well (I only have old zoom 506 multi fx to compare to though). Most presets are a bit too 'novelty' for me but it does what I wanted it to well (to my ears) but not used in a band situation yet.

  3. Vintage Trouble at the Forum Kentish Town on Tuesday. Can't believe I'm saying it but the sound was a bit 'bass-heavy' to start with but a brilliant gig nonetheless, masterclass in 'working a room' and a surprise guest duet with Paloma Faith singing 'I'd Rather Go Blind'
    Excellent evening's entertainment 😀

Love this band; great front man, great players and a cool retro vibe.

We used to cover 'Blues Hand Me Down' of theirs in my last band, and though most punters didn't know either the song or the band, it always went down great!

Great tune and I bet it went down well. Sometimes we cover 'Not Alright By Me' and we get the same reaction.

  5. They've been supporting ACDC around Europe and will be in North America soon.

I've seen them a few times now and was blown away every time. Met them too and you won't meet a nicer, humble bunch of guys. Thoroughly recommend catching them live. The recordings are good, but seeing them live is something else!

Follow them online and become a Troublemaker!

  6. I don't read notation either but a simple chart like this should help:

    http://www.teoria.com/res/images/reference/bass-clef-notes.gif

It shows the note values (lowest at the bottom) so shouldn't take long to work out notes (the sequence repeats above and below...). Like you say, once you know the notes you'll be able to decide where on the neck you play it.

If a line is marked with a '#' (sharp) or 'b' (flat - ok it's not a 'b' but it looks like one) then the note is one fret higher or lower.

I'm sure someone else will be along soon to explain/steer you better than I...
