1. Er, I played on a Behri ALU 410 (450 watt) today, and it was awful! I couldn't get a nice sound out of it after fiddling about with it for about twenty minutes, actually asked for my monitor to be turned up and the amp down because I hated it so much! Bad hiss, and just generally awful... I've heard decent guitar amps, but never played a good bass amp by them.

2. I've only ever transcribed a piece of music when doing an arrangement for school or just for fun, usually altering the style e.g. Phil Collins 'In the Air' swung for a lounge jazz style setup. But I've realised that it's really good ear training, so I've decided to tackle 'Not Yet' by Michel Camilo, with those amazing lines by Anthony Jackson!

3. I still do enjoy watching the show, because sometimes you discover something new or unexpected. But other times, I have it on just in the background, just in case I miss something good!

I anxiously anticipated the jam between Jools and Bootsy Collins, which did, unfortunately end up being an anticlimax... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RZCdasK2Wk

4. Yeah, my reading should be fine (Gareth may dispute this), and we'll have 1 or maybe two band rehearsals, and a dress rehearsal before the two nights, it should be grand :)
There's quite a few stings that are only one or two bars long and they can be quite tricky - blink and you'll miss 'em! Also the incidental/scene change type music is pretty short, as are the big production numbers.
You mean like, the generic scene change music is in the live show? Like a playoff? I love that stuff!
The movie recording is all digital computer work, so I'll hunt down a soundtrack on Spotify somewhere, thanks!

5. Yeah, so last week I was asked to play for an amateur production of High School Musical in a month's time. I accepted for several reasons:
1. The guy doing MD is a close friend
2. I know some of the other guys doing it, a brilliant drummer and solid brass players (buds too)
3. It goes down as 'experience' on my University entry form for a music degree

I was just curious to see if anyone else had played for a stage production of it, what I should expect the music to be like etc. I have asked for minimal pay just to cover expenses e.g. my dad's petrol money etc.
I know that as it's amateur, it may be Northern Irish teen screeching out with their badly done American accents, but are there any good aspects of the show?

Thanks

6. I installled an Audere JZ3 preamp in my fretless Fender MIM, and it's great! The only problem is that I get a slight crackle and hum on some amps when I touch the preamp controls? Any ideas? I took time to make sure that no wires crossed during installation, but I might have missed something.

Cheers.

Here's a link to a picture of the same model of JZ3 if your interested http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/9619/038uf7.jpg
