  1. I have three presets of my own recipe which appear to be corrupted. Every time I try to select them the Helix Floor just freezes. Rebooting brings it back to life again and all the other presets work fine. When I try to select these presets in HX Edit same result. I'd like to delete them altogether but there doesn't seem to be any way of doing this. Right clicking in HX edit doesn't have an option to delete. Anyone any ideas on how I might do this?

  2. Can anyone recommend someone who can repair the mini USB on my KMI Soft Step 2. It has broken of the circuit board and I’m assured by KMI it is repairable. I have the schematics for anyone who can do the job. I have one local guy to try this week but would be happy with some backup recommendations. I’m in Scottish Borders so happy to travel to Edinburgh or Newcastle.

It's an interesting idea, although given that it can't be bowed, it doesn't need to be built with the conventional cello shape; a different shape might be easier to play on your lap like a bass guitar.

They can make you one with a bowable neck.

    It's pretty easy.

First select Snapshot 1. Go to Command centre and highlight 'Instant 1'. Change 'Command' to BankPC. Change 'MIDI Channel' to match the MIDI channel of the device you want to control. Then use the Page Right button to go to Command Centre Page 2. Change 'Program' to the PC value you want to send.

(If your Snapshot Edits are set to Discard in Global Settings, you then need to save the preset now)

Now select Snapshot 2. Go to the same instance and just change the 'Program' number to another PC value. (And save if needed)

Now select Snapshot 3. Go to the same instance and just change the 'Program' number to another PC value. (And save if needed)

That's it. Let me know if that worked ok for you.

Thank you very much ratman. Works like a dream. 👍👍👍

    They already have.

I paid £1400, it sold to a fella  abroad for £1800. I haven't seen one for under £2k in ages.

There's talk of Rob shutting down Status.  Prices will almost certainly go through the roof.

Status have already stopped building basses due to Rob's semi-retirement.

  6. Just had the Meris LVX delivered today. Some of the YouTubers have produced some amazing sounds from it but there is going to be quite a steep learning curve to it. Part of me doesn't quite know where to start but the other part will start with altering presets to learn about it. Looking forward to this (ish) 🤔

To everyone who had commented and enjoyed Robins story, it saddens me to tell you that recently Robin lost his fight. He truly was a gentleman and my first port of call for many bass and life discussions. I am truly saddened by his passing and heart broken for his parter and four boys… I came on here to read through his story and remember the kind soul that he was and the enjoyment in working with him on this project!!

I only met Robin once but as you say Martin he was a real gent and really easy to talk with. This is dreadfully sad news and I don't really have any more words to say. Deapest condolencies to you and his family.

I must have been waiting for Status to update for months and months about their necks, and they never do.  I've been after a jazz CF neck for a long time

I gave up.  I suppose SG might be concentrating on full basses, where the money is, thats if they get going again.

I can see them going t*ts up if they dont sort themselves out

Have you read the message from Mr. Green on the website?

  9. Mind truely blown.

Just been exploring the Helix Floor as an audio interface. It's been setup in Cubase for this for a while but never really explored the possibilities.

It occured to me that it would be good to take a dry uneffected tone to one track on Cubase and the second line of effects below that to another. Can it be done I thought. It sure can. Jason Sadites as always has an excellent video on the subject so followed that and now I can mix the effeted bass tone separately from the effected tone with all the possibilities around that.

What a wonderful machine. After five years with it I'm still learning.

Adding external effects can cause the return signal to be mixed back in slightly later than the original, hence the comb filtering/phasing that you're getting. Also, some effect pedals actually flip the phase of their output signal, which will cause issues in loops.

As said above, check your external effects one by one to find the culprit and remove it from the loop.

    This^^

I think comb filtering tends to be more of an issue with digital fx in parallel and less so with analogue, which typically have lower latency, so that might assist in identifying the culprit.

Thanks for everyone's replies. The plot thickens. The problem has been on a new patch I've been trying in the Floor. I've gone back through some of my old patches made over the 5 years since I bought it and the strange thing is all the externals are fine in them. It must be a setup issue. I'll have to go through the older ones and compare setup with the new one.

Are you blending that signal with one that never leaves the helix? Makes me wonder in the delay from the da/ad is causing the phasing.

All the signals are leaving the Helix that's the problem. It's somewhere in the send/returns as there is a very slight delay in the signal when those blocks are engaged. Bypassing the send/return blocks leaves the signal nice and clear, what I would call normal. Even with all the external pedals switched off but with the send/returns engaged there is this very slight delay. Very strange.
