These basses are brilliant - really good fun to play and sound great.

My only issue was the switch felt a little flimsy for the quality of the bass...

Funny, because on my Mustang PJ, the switch was the first thing I checked out, and it's very solid, and has no static also when switching positions. The ETB92S Nylons play great on it too.

Yes, these look great. The shape of these has really grown on me too
And I do like a P/J pickup arrangement these days

Is yours the Mexican or US model?
I'm also thinking about trying some D'Addario nylon strings now too :)

It's a Mexican made, the D'Addario Nylons play well on it. I use the ETB92's on my Ric 4003W also.

gsgbass, does it sound as good as it looks?

And is that tape-wound strings on it?

Sorry for taking forever getting back to you. A hospital stay got in the way. D'Addario ETB92S Nylons onboard. i think it plays great with them strung on it. I use the ETB92 Nylons on my Ric 4003W also.

  4. Thanks Gents. I really like playing it. The Rosewood Fretboard is pretty decent on it. The bridge on it is the newer, heavier vintage style found on the newer MIM Standard Series Basses. I would love to see Fender do one with a Maple Fretboard.

  5. I acquired a Fender Mustang PJ, Olympic White today. It plays, and sounds really good. The QC on it is right on. It's nice to that it weighs in at 7.8 lbs. The D'Addario ETB92S Nylons do well on it as well. A good, quick, smooth playing short scale bass, with a 1.5" jazz size nut onboard.

  6. I hope to be getting this Precision in on Wed. the 26th. I took advantage of the $200. instant rebate on Am. Std.'s. I like the grain in the Fretboard also.

  7. I acquired this Am. Std. Fretless Jazz, with a $200. rebate.

  8. Am. Std. Jazz @ 8.8 lbs.
Am. Std. Fretless Jazz @ 8.13 lbs.
    Hofner 500/1-64-0 @ 4.13 lbs.
    Epiphone EB-3 @ 8.3 lbs.

It's nice to have all of the basses being under 9 lbs., but the Hofner violin @ 4.13 lbs. amazes me the most. The Hofner is so light, yet so balanced. I would've thought it would have some neck dive. But it has none.
