A.S.S. 12” custom Bass Speaker Cabinet.

Loaded with Peavey 1201-8 12” Black Widow driver. The cabinet was handmade by cabinet manufacturer A.S.S. in their Southend factory in the late 1980s. They made the cabinets for the Who bassist John Entwistle as well as for Turbosound P.A.s and their own A.S.S. P.A. systems.

The driver was re-coned about 14 years ago and then hardly used since. The re-cone was by Wembley Loudspeakers (the best) and I assume a bass cone was used.

The cabinet is nearly cube shaped at 450x450x420mm. It is incredibly well built in heavy ply with black textured paint and is front ported (see the photos) with an extremely solid foam damped grille. There are some marks on the surface and it has runners on the underside rather than feet.

Sound wise it exhibits a nice forward lo mid and mid range and a smooth top end, so not a hi-fi cabinet but sounds great with a four string P-Bass.

The cabinet is chunky and weighs 25kg approximately.

It works but after a while it reduces in volume and therefore needs a service.

I can recommend Bass Centre Detroits. The set are .045-.105 and are a bit rootsy and funky than Chromes. I have them on a Fender 57 RI USA with a Bare Knuckle ‘58 pickup.

They sound very nice and record well.

All of the ones I have and on the Bass Direct website have rivets on the back face. Did you get a box like the one in my picture?

Hi Owen,

I have a BT-3 and that doesn’t look like mine. It should be Fender vintage style reverse winding and should fit straight on a re-issue or similar bass but not a Mexican non-reissue.

Emma Electronics Octa Nois pedal with box in almost unused condition. 
It comes with the booklet and unused neoprene foot.

It is a great unit but I don’t use it as I have other alternatives. 

I’ve got both actually but play a 2eq on the gig and a P-Bass. 
I don’t have an Alembic series 1 but it’s all about the music, the great bass lines and the compositions. Louis was a monster!

Eden 115 XLT from pre 2003 so a Montrose Minnesota Cab. The driver, a 15" P.A.S. It was re-coned about 7 years ago at Wembley Loudspeakers and has been hardly used since. The cab is in good shape, however the logo and one of the cups for castors are missing. It has jacks and banana plugs and sounds awesome. The tweeter is the original sand cast item. 

Pick up from SM7 2DP or I can meet somewhere so plus some gas money.
