  1. Three packs of Overwater Strings.

    These are new old stock and are over 10 years old.

    There is no corrosion and they are the US Strings Chris May had custom made at the time by GHS.

    They are ‘multi scale’ in other words they fit an Overwater with a 36” scale and are the light gauge.
    There are four packs;

    2 packs of 0.028-.128” for 6 string, 1 pack each of nickel and stainless.

    1 pack of 0.038-.098” for 4 string stainless.

    The 4 string set £10 plus £2 postage.

    The 6 string sets £16 plus £2 postage.

    Or £50 the lot.

  2. I’m slowly getting a Louis Johnson early 70s lookalike P-Bass together.

    It is a swamp ash body from Dave Dyke and I made the template from a P-Bass I already have from 6mm mdf.
    so far so good although there have be a couple of issues.

    A.S.S. 12” custom Bass Speaker Cabinet.

    Loaded with Peavey 1201-8 12” Black Widow driver. The cabinet was handmade by cabinet manufacturer A.S.S. in their Southend factory in the late 1980s. They made the cabinets for the Who bassist John Entwistle as well as for Turbosound P.A.s and their own A.S.S. P.A. systems.

    The driver was re-coned about 14 years ago and then hardly used since. The re-cone was by Wembley Loudspeakers (the best) and I assume a bass cone was used.

    The cabinet is nearly cube shaped at 450x450x420mm. It is incredibly well built in heavy ply with black textured paint and is front ported (see the photos) with an extremely solid foam damped grille. There are some marks on the surface and it has runners on the underside rather than feet.

    Sound wise it exhibits a nice forward lo mid and mid range and a smooth top end, so not a hi-fi cabinet but sounds great with a four string P-Bass.

    The cabinet is chunky and weighs 25kg approximately.
