1. Hi all - Its all about the fun and enjoyment side of music. Our excellent bass player is leaving soon who joined us through this site so we have high hopes. We do have two professional deps. who between them have never let us down to date but we really are looking for a permanent replacement to gel the whole social aspect back to where it was before. To get the geography out of the way, we rehearse at NG33 4LG Wednesdays and a lot of our gigs are around the Stamford Peterborough area. Our web site is www.page8.co.uk and we do covers of classics and contemporary music and a couple of originals but have tried not to do the usual predictable songs. What we offer is a supportive and friendly environment, a good age and gender mix with two female vocalists, great fun at rehearsals and on stage, with good interaction with the audience. Everyone inputs onto the song choices and arrangements, and we want someone who can put their own signature bass sound into the numbers rather than direct copies. Well that's more than enough from me as long as you are between 18 and whatever, any gender, don't take yourself too seriously, don't really have an ego to speak of, and love playing live then please let me know if you are interested - look forward to hearing from you. Michael ("][email protected])
 2. Hi Geoff - Our bass player is leaving. We have a couple of deps. who between them have never let us down but we are looking for a permanent replacement really. The geography may well be an issue -we rehearse at NG33 4LG Wednesdays (I make that around 38 miles shortest possible route) and a lot of our gigs are around the Stamford Peterborough area. Our web site is <a href="http://www.page8.co.uk/">www.page8.co.uk we do covers of classics and contemporary music but have tried not to do the usual predictable songs. What we offer is a supportive very friendly environment where everyone inputs onto the song choices and arrangements and I'd like someone who can put their own signature bass sound into all the numbers rather than direct copies. Well that's more than enough from me let me know if you are interested.
 3. I'm so sorry please let me atone for my thoughtlessness. Hi, The name of our band is PAGE 8: we are a gigging cover band and one of our female vocalists is leaving to go to Uni in September so we need to find someone to replace her. We are looking for a vocalist between 18 and 25 who loves to sing and wants to be part of a band. In return we can offer a supportive environment, friendly, good, creative, musicians and a great song list. If you are interested please get in contact. Dress size 8 – 14 please. Michael

 5.
Yep this sounds like an interesting project but pity I'm in sunny Scotland. Good luck. Dave
Hi Dave, Thanks for taking the time to respond. As it happens I'm in Glasgow as we speak (not sunny at all by the way - plenty of rain but no sun - you lied). This is a really impressive forum everyone’s encouraging and sends messages of good luck. Certainly can't say that of some other places I've used in the past. Kind regards Michael

Good luck Brendan P.S anyone around Stoke/Manchester fancy doing something similar?
Thanks Brendan, as you say shame. Hope all goes well with you as well, Michael.
 7. Hi Basschatters...first time post here I've started to put a new project together from my previous band - (got tired of looking for one that fitted). Currently, there are 4 of us. 2 very talented young female vocalists, drums, and keyboards and we are now looking for a bass player to enhance this line-up and see how that sounds. We all live in the Stamford / Grantham/ Peterborough area and of course age and gender is immaterial. Us Musos (should that be we Musos - who knows) are good at our thing and have been playing for plenty of years; we're over 40 the singers are under 20. If after evaluating our sound it becomes clear that a guitarist would enhance things and we all agree that it is the right thing to do, then there are some very talented guitarists who would be happy to join us but initially we would like to see what this sound is like as I think giving the bass total freedom may make for something quite unique and really enjoyable – but we’ll have to see. Either way I would like the bass to play a key part in our final sound. We've looked at what we would like to; kicked a few suggestions around, tried out a few ideas and some things look promising.

Valerie - (Amy Winehouse)...very jazzy - chilled-out version)
Superstition - (Stevie Wonder)
You've Got The Love - (Florence and the Machine)
Dock of the bay - (Sarah Bareilles version)
Billie Jean - (Michael Jackson)
If I Ain’t got you – (Alicia Keys)
Use Somebody (Kings lf Leon)
Hot ‘n cold – (Katy Perry)
American Boy – (Estelle)
Bring it on home - (Very bluesy Eric Burdens version)
Don’t stop me now – (Queen)
Love song – (Sarah Bareilles)
That’s life (James Brown)
Bad Romance – (Lady Gaga)
Russian roulette - (Rhianna)
We’ve also a couple of originals that are not at all bad. So, bit of a mix there but then we're still looking for our sound and don’t want to get pigeonholed too early ...and here's a chance to get in and start influencing things with us from the start So we need everything from slow blues to walking jazz bass lines to more contemporary stuff. Plenty of scope for you to get a signature bass sound into it. I still have a little potential work with my original line-up such as an event at Leeds Uni and the local music festival later this year, plus one or two other interesting bits and pieces but there’s a whole lot more to this than just playing music. I really would like to get settled with a good group of people who don’t want to rehearse to death but do want to do something they are proud of and have a really good time doing it. To us, this is for the buzz and the fun and the way we all gel and get on is every bit as important as what and how we play. So we’re looking for someone who’s easy going, wants to pitch in and share the workload, doesn’t have a huge ego, enjoys the coffee and cakes at rehearsals, respects the abilities of the others and wants to work together as a peer. It’s all about mutual respect. Well that’s more than enough from me even I‘m getting bored now: If all this sounds at all interesting then please get in touch.
