He has provided me with a serial number that points to 1979-1981 but when I pointed out the truss rod nut and frets discrepancies he said he can’t comment. Reckons he took it to a music shop for a ball park figure. Hmmmm…….

Described as a Fender Bass at £2,000 I have asked if it is a 1970’s reissue or a 1970’s bass and he did not know but he did confirm that the truss rod nut is on the headstock - I thought they are always on the heel end? Can they be on the headstock for this era?
 

I have asked for the serial number but my initial thoughts are that it may not be genuine?

Gibson SG Bass Ebony – S/N 102180233 - 2018 model with tan Gibson hardcase. Only modification is I replaced the stock Gibson/Grover tuners with Hipshot licensed Ultralite ones to completely eliminate neck dive and make it an extremely light and well balanced bass guitar. I still have the original Gibson tuners and will be included. The small single hole holding the Hipshots will be covered by the Gibson footprint should you reinstall them although I would not recommend this. Good condition with a great tone. Trade wise I would consider a US Fender Precision, with cash your way if appropriate, but would need one with the 41mm width or less and not the too chunky a profile. Sorry will not post so collect only however but I am willing to travel to meet up if not too far - I live near Loughborough about 15/20 mins from J23 M1. I would travel further for the right P bass.

Just bought a P Bass loom which greatly improves the tone of my recently acquired Mex P bass - thanks and for the quick turnaround

Becoming a bit rare now this T Bird was only available from 2012 to 2020 and this one was made, I believe, November 2016 at the Samick factory in Indonesia.

Modelled on a modern Gibson Thunderbird it has actual Gibson pick ups, through neck, mahogany body and neck and with the jack socket on the bottom edge and not the front.

This one also has a Gibson truss rod cover but unfortunately I do not have the original Epiphone one. Also unfortunately there is no case or gig bag. Great Thunderbird sound and ‘google’ for the positive reviews. Happy to answer any questions. Sorry collect, and try, or local meet up only. Usual story now seen another bass I want so reduced for a quick sale. 

Indonesian made 2019 Squier 70's Classic Vibe Jazz bass with a great fast maple jazz neck and good jazz bass sound. Well known and good quality Squier bass. Only damage I can see is chip on side that has been covered up, cannot be seen from front and is difficult to photograph. Now fitted with round wound strings and not flat wound as in photos. Sorry I will not post so collect only or meet up locally.

No I cant work it out either. I did reply to one saying " Is this available for £65?" but got no response. I did wonder if it was a way to build up data of those interested in Bass Guitars or possibly to identify profiles to clone.  

So there is the same photo of a black Music Man Bongo bass guitar and case being sold for £65, which you may have seen, by at least four different dodgy profile sellers (and different additional ones appear each night)  in at least four different locations around the UK and so I reported all four adverts to FB, as they take scams seriously, at the same time and guess what? This is what the said!

Beggars belief! A Music Man Bongo Bass for £65!😂

I am the original owner of this bass guitar and I bought it new in April 2023. It is in a gorgeous Candy Apple Red which I believe was introduced in late 2022. Since my purchase I shortly developed some issues with my hands, due to age, and I have moved to a short scale Gibson SG Bass guitar which is more comfortable for me to play. This means it really is in a new and unmarked condition and comes in the original cardboard box as no gig bag is supplied with this series. 

I bought the bass because I wanted a P Bass sound, with the option of a jazz bridge pickup and a slimmer jazz bass neck. It certainly delivers the P Bass sound with a jazz rasp if you need it. The neck is one of the fastest I have played with a very smooth back. It has never left my home and is rarely played.    

The serial number is MX22282003 should you wish to check the full specification.

The only bass I have bought new, as I thought it would be a keeper, and cost me £799 and so looking to sell for £550 as really is in an unworn condition. Trade wise I may be interested in a heritage cherry Gibson SG Bass (I already have Ebony), Gibson Les Paul Junior DC Bass or similar short scale basses with negotiable cash either way.

Collection only I am afraid but I live near Loughborough and about 15 mins from Junction 23 of M1. For a trade I may be willing to travel a little way.     

Sought after bass as firstly it is an Indonesian Standard Squier, which I understand is considered better quality than the later and current Affinity models, and secondly it is versatile P/J bass with a lovely fast jazz neck, thinner than the normal P Bass neck. Sounds great with a P Bass thump or a Jazz Bass honk or a blend of the two.

Finished in Antique Burst with a Tortoise Shell pick guard there is little wear on the frets and I cannot find any body or neck damage.

Serial number is IC050155041 and I understand from Squier databases that the I stands for Indonesia, the C for the Cort factory and the 05 for the year i.e.2005.

The previous owner replaced the electrics with full size pots and also added ashtrays and a thumb rest which I have removed as I find they get in the way. However they are included in the sale.

I would keep this but I with ageing hands and fingers now I do find short scale basses easier to play. Happy to discuss trades but really only interested in short scale passive basses with cash either way.

Collect or meet up within a reasonable distance and could meet up at Junction 21 Foss Park or 23a Donington Services of M1 if helps.

So I bought this mat 7/8 years ago when I had two Trace Elliot cabs and I found this worked in isolating particularly the 15”cab from a wooden floor and removed some of the boom in the room. I then moved onto TC Electronic RS cabs which for some reason have no feet and this was great to stand them not only improving the sound but also protecting the cabinet covering. I have no gone lighter in my old age and with an Orange 12” use a small angled amp/cab stand if I need to and so this mat is now surplus to requirements.

This the larger mat and can be use either landscape or portrait depending on cab and measures 30” x 19” x 2.75”. I have strengthened the handle with two nuts and bolts as originally it was just small self tapping screws which fell out after little use. 

I think they cost around £100 now and looking for £25. Collect only due to size although I could meet up an Junction 21 Foss Park or 23a Donington Services of M1 if it helps.

Great sounding Precision Bass with a good fat tone. Google it for the positive reviews. Love the Candy Apple Red colour and some of the more obvious road worn chips have been touched up with, I understand, matching nail varnish. Made in Mexico 2016.

Based on a 1970’s P bass with an ash body, a nitro cellulose finish, Fender HiMass Bridge, Rosewood finger board, Seymour Duncan® Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound Split Single-Coil Precision Bass, Slim C neck shape with a Nut Width of  1.615" (41.02 mm) which is slightly narrower than the usual P bass neck

Second Owner and comes with original gig bag and case candy as shown including Foo Fighters optional neck plate.

Looking to sell as I prefer my 1996 P Bass and jazz basses. Retail at circa £1,350 on some retail websites. Not really interested in trades at the moment as trying to reduce herd.

I am unable to post and live near Loughborough so could meet up a M1 local junction although you may prefer to try before you buy. Looking for £750. Now reduced to £700.

I find this in some basses and sometimes increasing mids or maybe treble on amp boosts the notes and also you could try lowering the other pickups under the other strings,  or maybe increase string size to 50, which may balance it out more. But I have also had problems with new strings so might be worth another change to see. 

Thanks both for your offers. There is no rush as it works with thinner strings but it is more or less maxed out and is just one if those jobs I will get round to some day.

May I ask what size washers you used, if you can recall, as I could not find any the right size - thanks

Holding down the strings on the last fret I am probably 3.5mm between pole and bottom of E string and 3 mm on G string - might try increasing height a shade then on E. Great colour by the way!

It's finally here!! My BB414 has arrived. I must say that I am very surprised about the quality. It hadn't been played for some years (according to the seller) so I did a setup, some lemon oil, new string, intonation... Now it's perfect. It's a little bit heavy, but it plays like a dream. I put the usual Gotoh 201 bridge, approx cost £40. on my white BB414 and really improved the tone. Also changed tuners to Hipshot licensed Ultralites, approx £65. They each weigh 40g and saved about 240g overall in weight and now much better balance and no neck dive. Fitted quite well but smaller footprint and can see 'tan' marks

Yes there are two holes exposed as the one screw of an Ultralite just fits the third screw of a stock machine head, the one on its own. There is also a lighter shading exposed where the smaller Ultralite does not cover the whole footprint of the original. Bit annoying but you cant see it when playing and certainly a worth while exercise.
