Hi guys!

I offer my services as a bass tutor in Hammersmith, West London. I'm also doing online lessons via Skype.

I'm from Barcelona (Spain) and I have a HUGE experience as a sessionist and as a teacher.
Now I moved to London and I want to continue my music career here.

I can teach all levels, from begginer to expert.
Technique (finger, slap), Harmony applied to bass, Soloing, Groove... everything.

The only problem is that I still have to improve my english, but I'm not too bad hehe, but that's why I'm only asking £25 per hour.


Here's a little bit about me:

- Graduated at Superior College of Music of Catalunya (ESMUC) where I studied with the bass giant Gary Willis for 4 years.

- Lately I've been in the US playing bass with the hit musical Rock of Ages and also the ballroom dance show Burn the Floor.

- Currently I'm a Yamaha performing artist and I'm doing a clinic tour around Europe.

- I have more than 12 years of experience teaching bass. I've been teaching in one of the most prestigious schools in Spain, Taller de Musics. One of my most succesful students is the youtube star Marta Altesa www.youtube.com/martabass92

- I've played in several TV shows in Spain such as Buenafuente, La Marató de TV3, La Partida de TV3 and played, toured and/or recorded with big spanish artists such as Monica Green, Antonio Orozco, Sergio Dalma or Lidia Guevara and with the legendary spanish ska band Discipulos de Otilia which he has toured with in Europe and Japan.

- I have been playing/touring/recording in more than 90 projects in Spain, including tribute bands (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dire Straits and Elvis Presley) and a lot of cover bands, among many other original projects such as Andreu Martinez, Gnaposs, Kayo Malayo, La Carrau, Miguel Talavera power trio...

- I have professional experience playing all kind of styles: pop, rock, funk, blues, jazz, fusion, electro, dance, soul, r'n'b, country, ska, metal, punk, reggae, folk, bossa, rumba...

I'm Miki Santamaria, I've just moved to London and I can't wait to meet some nice people and start giggin in the UK!

The easiest to play is the Fodera, but is so easy that reminds me more to a Ibanez than a Fender. The Sadowsky feels better IMO, it has a vintage response when you slap. For me thats the best, vintage feel with low action = Perfect.
I can feel clearly a difference between 60's Fenders and 70's Fender, I think its because of the fret type, more than the wood type.

Yeah sure, the strings on the 65 and 72 were old, and the fodera as well, but not that much... they should sound much better than that. Sorry about that guys!

This Stingray has only one pickup so all three files (fingers1, fingers2 and slap) are recorded with the same configuration.

And yeah, the sound of the Musicman is punchy, big, aggressive... I love it. But I prefer the versatility of the Jazz Bass. Musicman has been always my second option. Its a must-have bass!

We did a bass meeting in Barcelona a few months ago and I recorded 15 of the basses, 3 sound tracks with each one (a walking bass line with the neck pickup, jaco style with de bridge pickup and slap with both pickups).

In my opinion all jazz basses sound really similar (Fodera, Pensa and SX included). You can easily hear the difference between the 70s and 60s models.

The huge difference is the feel. In that aspect I think the SX is the worst. The Fodera has a super fast neck and makes any technique easier than the rest of the basses in this test. The feeling when you play the 62 is just magical, you can feel the vibrations better than any other bass in this test, the custom shop 64 and 60 are amazing too. I love my 77, for me it's the best 70's Fender I've ever played, the slap tone is perfect, just like Marcus Miller... But for me the best in this test is the Sadowsky. This bass has it all!!! Clear sound, super easy to play, it has a perfect adjustment, real vintage tone... It's just PERFECT.
Ah, and about the Yamaha... that's the best vintage bass for the money that you can buy today. I've paid only 500€ for this great bass.
