1. higher action = better tone, once it was my idea too, but now I've radically changed my mind.

It's all about touch. My mind was changed by a great italian jazz performer whom I told the same thing:

"when I want to give a strong dynamic to the sound or just being crazy at y gig my bass play worse with a lower action".

He told me: Federico, I know you teach martial arts. When you do that, do you teach your pupils to hit strong? or to hit fast and precise in order to get the most effective result?
I said, exactly the second one.
He said: when you got expert it's kind of automatic to give fists and kicks fast, precise and bloody effective even in the worst situations. Thus you forget how to be brutal.
I said: you've got the point chief.

I spent days doing just one silly but effective exercise:
left hand laid on the fingerboard in rest, muting the strings.
Right hand. Put your fingers on a string. Prepare yourself to hit the strings. Focus on being as much fast as possible. You won't have strenght on your fingers because they'll be already laid on the strings. Focus focus focus and then hit! repeat, repeat, repeat.

Have you seen Kill Bill when Uma tries to escape from her cuffin? =D well same idea.

2. If i were you I would made exactly the same choice.

MM alnico and sjb-2

The reasons are:

1) you need a single coil with high output, otherwise it might be overwhelmed by the humbucker.
2) I was an obsessive "pimp up my bass" guy, and I tried a lot of PUPS. Both Alnico and MM and Sjb-2,as SD web page claims, have a rough mid sound, and they suit perfectly with the typical "sleeky shade" which is given by active electronics.

Sjb 2 aren't my favourite pups by SD, great growly sound but a bit darker maybe, and they are noisy with passive electronic. However, they were perfect when I used them through an active electronic(which cancels the single coil noise).

3. Hi guys, this is part of a trade with a fellow basschatter. Before I sadly come back to Italy I´d really like to either sell it or swap it for something lighter (Easyjet takes up to 20 kilos and the first 7.5 will be used for my power amp!).

I´d yearn for a loop station or a Korg Pandora, but I´m quite open to new ideas.

regarding cash, make an offer, then I´ll evaluate,

4. argh.

Unfortunately I am more a Ash-maple guy, but before leaving london I wanted to give myself a memorabilia : a jazz with that smooth 62 sound.

Your jazz is absolutely stunning, but I even consider the 62 sound "a dark sound", hence your jazz might sound too dark to me. Maybe is due to the bartolini, ain´t it?not my favouriete type of pick ups

Hey guys, I know Monday is not the best day, but if you like hanging around in Camden you can drop by the cool Proud Galleries and give a listening to my band, we are quite good ;-)

Proud Galleries is in Chalk Farm Road, in the ex-Horse Hospital!

Bye guys, thank you in advance!

A clever, musical, very practical Eq. Presonus is just a great brand!

The item is like new, mint condtion with original power supply, box, and manual included. The sad reason why I sell it is explained in my topic where I sell the Epifani cab.
I used this jewel between pre amp and power amp. It was sweeeeet!
I paid 70 less then 3 months ago, sell 70.
I'd swap for either a boss rc-2 or korg pandora
PS IT IS TRUE BYPASS

This is a sad story. I was supposed to stay in London until March 2010 for an international postgraduate and then Valencia. Westminster university told me just 4 days ago they´re going to suppress the MA, so that now I have to leave London to go either in Bremen, North Carolina, or Marseille.

yea I know,It sounds pretty cool but I wanted to stay here, Í have a new band and we´re doing great. and other reasons too..

Anyway.. I have to sell this cab. I will quit with live music during next 12 months, and in Italy I already have a cab.

The cab is in mint conditions. weighs 38 lbs, has a bass reflex and a 100w tweeter with dedicated control. The original speakers have been replaced which better Celestion Orange Label BN10-300S (speakers used by the new gen. Schroeder cabs), to add more punch and breath. The weight hasn´t changed,(just few grams), but sound has indeed, your bass will sing with his true voice through this cab.

I don´t know which is the fair value of this cab. I was thinking about 400 pound, but I´m open to offer.
Obviously I can´t accept trades, unless you offer me small items, like preamps, active DI, or a boss rc-2(which I´ll badly need in next 12 months)

The sale is open until the 7-8 of July, then I will have to ship it to italy since the 12th I have the flight.

cheers!

8. in my "want the valve but I haven't got money" period I tricked a lot with these pedals, and, in the end, I came up with........................
........................................................................
................................................................

the Zoom B2.1U!!!!!

It emulates the Sansamp better than the Behringer does. I dare everybody to hear the difference.
what's more?
very good DI(better than the behringer)
it's solid and reliable
it's beautiful
the volume pedal is cool
the graphic digital Eq is one of the most effective ever heard
delay and chorus are great
autowah is good
all the others effects....uff, I didn't have enough time for them.

Now I still have not money, but I don't want the valve anymore, fortunately!
