  1. Hi,
    Am I missing something here?
I've just listened to an NS WAV with gut-a-like on it, and it sounded far more realistic than pretty much any WAV I've listened to.
But would they work on a CR4M? Wouldn't there be an issue with the magnetic pick ups not picking up none metallic strings?

  2. Hi,
Total newbie to Double bass, although I did 2 years at school, eons ago, with very little progress or practice!🤔
Part of what I do is a duo with my wife on piano and vocals.
Rather than a EUB I was thinking of a shorter scale double bass.
    But what about gut strings?
Until a month ago I hadn't realised they were a realistic option.
I've seen these on eBay and their website. Does anyone have any experience of them?
    Price seems good.

  3. So, on Tuesday evening I went to watch Bill Laurance and Michael League play their duo gig.
    Totally amazinng!
Michael's bass, a 4 string fretless acoustic, blew my mind. It looks to be totally acoustic with a small goose neck mic velcroed on and placed right in the sound hole on the lower bout.
I've been looking on t'internet since to try and find what it is annd what mic he uses. But can't find anything about it.
    Any ideas what it is?
The sound is so close to a good upright, but with the slightest hint of trad fretless.

  4. Thinning the heard but on the look out for some other specific stuff.
If you don't know EA gear, these are amazing speakers. Euphonic Audio built boutique Hi-Fi before they went into the Bass gear market!

    From a website I found:
Built for the bass player who truly pays attention to every detail and aspect of their tone, this is the M-Line Wizzy 12 1x12” cabinet by Euphonic Audio. They use an application of transmission line technology that is often found in high fidelity sound systems and studio monitors, and when applied to a bass speaker like the Wizzy 12, it adds a high-fidelity spin for those looking for the flattest response in a 1×12 cabinet configuration. Of course, this is only possible because EA started with a successful design – the Wizzy itself, the speaker cabinet that uses a super-woofer with a “wizzy” high-frequency cone at its center. This eliminates numerous parts that separate you from your sound. What’s left is a speaker cabinet in its purest form.

The 112 M-Line is like playing through a studio monitor for bass, yet one that can play at stage volumes. No matter what the music, the 12 M lets you hear your bass as exactly as it sounds.

Proprietary EA 12? Woofer with Integral “Whizzer” Cone

45Hz to 12kHz Frequency Response ( I've been using them on an extended range Bass at F# 23Hz./E 20.5Hz. and they coped brilliantly because. of the transmission line cab.)

    Sensitivity: 103dB @ 1m

    Sound Pressure: 126dB @ 1m

    200w Power Handling

    8 Ohm

    Speakon Connectors

    Size: 19.5?H x 16?W x 12.75?D

    Weight: 34 Lbs.

One original EA cover and one nearly new Roqsolid cover.
    Excellent condition.

I'd accept sensible offers and  will consider selling them separately, but as a pair they are worth their weight in Gold!
I'll ship world wide at buyers expense.

I'm only selling because I still prefer my EA VL-210B even though it is 75lb.!
Would trade for an EA iAmp 800 with cash my way or a VL-210B  and cash my way. Or if you have a VL-310....🤔
    Welcome to come and try.

No scammers - I won’t let courier collect for an envelope of cash, or your cousin who’s passing on business cannot collect etc.

  5. Time to thin the herd.
2004 Overwater Progress III Custom Deluxe 7 string.
In excellent condition, set up by Chris May.
Current stringing is low F# to C. Comes with a set of Kallium round wounds (there are also a few spare C strings for the Kalliums) and a set of Custom made set of Octave4plus stainless flats. Sounds equally great with either.
The bass is big but beautifully balanced.
3 band eq with amazing tone options in the East designed preamp. Built in DI and locking jack socket. Circuit in 9v.
At some point the upper horn has been drilled to take a Gruv Gear duo strap, but I've not needed it.
Not sure what the top wood is but Chris thinks it's sone sort of rosewood family. The fret board is rosewood.
The bass also has a hipshot D-tuner on the F# to drop it to E, an octave lower than usual E on a bass, and I have the double drop lever bit not on it currently.. It has Dunlop strap locks.

The bass is 35" scale and has amazing sustain. The action is nice and low.
I used this as my main bass for improvising over the last 5 years but managed to land a bass I've been after since the 80s, so one has to give.

New, one of these. would be in excess of £7000.00

I'm willing to ship world wide at buyers cost.

  7. Hi,
I use an active Overwater and a passive Fender Jazz.
I usually run through my Bassbone pre into either DAW or amp if it's a live gig.
But I have very little experience on pedals.
All I'm interested in at the moment is the Gamechanger Plus Pedal that I've ordered and some sort of volume pedal.
But which one to get a smooth variance in volume?
And the best way of wiring them up, as the Bassbone has an effects loop, but is using that the best?
