What exactly is the collective term for Precisions?
An accuracy? -

Try emailing Hipshot and find out who the UK distributors are . They're absolutely fantastic quality tuners , the best you can buy , and will do a lot to help your problem .
Got a feeling they might be worth as much as the bass!
On the other hand,it might give me the kick I need to start modifying it to the PJ bass I really want. -
Lightweight tuners seem to be rarer than hens teeth!

Shoot me down, but would raising the location of strap button on the body to further up (away from the controls) help? Could try it out with gaffa.
This was the first thing that I did.I now have lots of holes to fill on the bass!
I'll look on the web for the tuners.Sounds like a good idea. -

My Child, repentance is nigh. Please say 10 "On The One...HUH!", 25 "yowsa yowsa yowsa" and cite the Prayer for Bass Players:
"The drummer is my lord and I shall not rush.
He maketh me lay out in tasteful places
He leadeth me beside cool meter changes
He restoreth my "one".
Yeah man, though I read
through the trickiest of charts,
I will fear no train wrecks. For he is down on it.
His hihat and snare, both comfort me
They setteth up a solo for me In the presence of guitarists.
You bestoweth my licks with Big Nasty.
My groove overfloweth.
Surely good feel and funk will flow
through all the tunes of each set.
And I will dwell in the pocket
Forever.
Amen."

I'd just put a thin coat of satin nitro lacquer over it. If you start staining it'll get darker
Would a second coat even the colour out, though?Looks like the grain has really drunk up the stain in a few places. -
Whilst I love the sound of my JHS Tony Butler P bass,it has a touch of neck dive which is starting to cause my left shoulder to ache.
I've changed the strap from a Mono brand padded nylon one to a leather one. This has helped, but I'm looking for anything else that may work.
Any idea's,people? -
Bloody hell!Theres some serious talent and skill here.
My vote is cast,I await the final result. -
Gerry McAvoy on A Million Miles Away by Rory Gallagher.
Whoever played on Car Wheels on a Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams(the whole album, not just the title track).
But the song that made me really want to play bass was Mary's Prayer by (I think)Danny Thompson. -

Ibanez Jetking with the upper scratchplate taken off.
Yup. -
Nice bass,and great tunes too!
-
I had to sell a Warwick $$ because of the weight. It caused pains in my left shoulder. My Status is OK,but my P copy is starting to make my shoulder ache.
I have had to move the rear strap button to the back of the body to make it hang better(the neck lifts up this way).
The lightest bass I owned was a Hohner stick bass which had a great tone,an active bypass switch, and was about the same weight as the strap it hung on!
If my back and shoulders get worse I may consider selling both basses to get one of these again. -
Me like!
But at the moment I'm exploring my Americana and Country side.I've just ordered Junior Browns greatest hits, and am getting into Drive by Truckers as well. -
Now cueing up Seth Lakeman on the Folk Jukebox.......

1980 Blazer, quite rare and only made for one year.
Great vintage bass with tons of punch and growl, but not really my scene these days.

Free to a good home ? -
Ta muchly!
-
Cheers all.
The chips are back to the body wood, and there are screw holes to fill.
Would a fine filler do,or should I just build up the layers of paint? -
I've moved my strap button(bridge end one)a few times now,and it has left me with 4 holes to fill and re-paint(gloss black).
Any tips on what to and not to do? -

Can't go wrong with Wilkinson in my experience. Solid dependable gear - ask any Vintage bass owner.
Own one.Like it.Feels solid and sounds great. -
That is just beautiful, and I am very jealous .
-
Fantastic.
Right up my musical alley,Clarky.
The album is on my "want" list! -
Long sighted, colour blind, trouble with bright lights.
Going for the guide dog/white sick combo these days!
Neck heavy bass.

I don't get this. The bass should just be a P-Bass copy and therefore shouldn't balance any better or worse then any other P-Bass. How much does the whole bass weigh?
It's no heavier than my Status Groove, which gives me no problems at all.
I think it could be that this bass has a light body which causes the dive.
