1. Hey there!

I would use the VT Bass into the Rumble's effects in, instead of plugging it into the front panel input. That way you will use only the power section of the Fender, ignoring it's preamp. I'm sure you won't miss your Ampeg + Marshall rig so much if you do this.

So my setup would be:

Bass => Tuner => Mark Bass Synth => VT Bass => Rumble (effects loop in)

Give it a try!

Cheers

2. I got this one here: http://www.bigknobpedals.com/tru_bypass.htm

Affordable and very simple. Of course it can't do everything the gigrig can, but depending on how you want to use it, it'll do the trick. Also good because it keeps non-true bypass pedals out of the signal chain when not in use.

3. I'm using the ART Levelar. http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?ca...pe=124&id=7

Discontinued and not so easy to come across, but worth trying. These are from the days ART were still manufacturing in the States. Works great for me. Better than my DBX266XL (rack) and it works between the bass and the amp or in the effects loop.

Downsides?
- Some might find the desktop format inconvenient
- Needs a special power supply (AC9V)

4. I wouldn't know the difference. I never tried the Wooly Mammoth. The Bushy Bison does what it does really well. That's all I can say.

5. Hey!

I don't have any sound clips, but I just bought a Bushy Bison from a fellow basschatter. If you're looking for a fuzz for synthy sounds I highly recommend this pedal. I think Muse's Time is Running Out, or Hysteria are great examples of the sort of tones you can nail with the Bison. Really good for funky stuff as well, specially when combined with a good envelope filter (I use the 3 Leaf Proton and the EHX Bass Balls) and an a fat octave pedal (MXR M-288 in my case). If you turn the 'pinch' knob fully clockwise it won't sound so synthy anymore, but in my opinion other pedals do this kind of job better. Maybe a Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie - B, or Tri Pie 70', or even a Tech 21 VT Bass with the character control turned fully clockwise and quite a bit of drive.

I hope that helps. Any more questions, just shoot.

Cheers

6. I gigged this rig for the first time last night with my American Standard P-Bass. God, how I missed an all valve rig!

I know there's a lot of curiosity about the the YBA300. I'll write a review as soon as I have used it a bit more. All I can say for now is: SVT killer! I owned an American SVT Classic for many years and still get to play with it because it's now with a friend. The Traynor is more versatile, lighter, cheaper to re-valve and equally loud.

Hope the picture is ok.

Cheers

7. Slightly off topic, but I use my VT Bass as preamp with a QSC PLX1602 power amp and it's great! Only think that can beat it is a real SVT but the difference is subtle. If that's what you're looking for, go for it. You won't regret. I really don't know much about the Peavey stuff but I can say I've been using my QSC live heavily for the last 8 years (previously with the MXR M-80 as a preamp) without any problems and with with no maintenance whatsoever. I cannot think of a more reliable piece of gear. QSC rocks, man.

8.
Just snagged an original of this on Ebay for £40, seemed like a good move. I played the bass edition at the weekend and enjoyed the asalt on my ears!

Does anyone know what the difference is between the original/bass/guitar editions of this badboy? I'll know myself in 2 days when it arrives I guess, but meh, I'm impatient.

I would be great if Tech 21 had more sound clips on their website. Anyone knows of any video demo/sound clips anywhere? The one they have on the site is lame. Anyway... Let us know what you think in a few days.

9. Selling here my Epifani PS 210. Very difficult to get one in the UK these days. I had to buy mine from Italy last November after I got tired of trying to get one around here.

Pretty amazing little cabinet, as I'm sure you all know. Louder, clearer and deeper that many 4x10's. This is the 4 Ohms version and it handles 400 Watt RMS. Light weight at only 49lbs (22.2kgs) and, in my opinion, better sounding than the UL series 2x10.

Selling it due to last minute travel arrangements, so I won't be accepting trades I'm afraid. It's got a very small, nearly unnoticeable scratch on the grill that I couldn't even show in the picture and a couple of the plastic corners are a little scratched too. Other than that, as new. Comes with all the documentation including warranty card and a brand new speakon lead.

Collection only because there's no case or cover. I'm in North London (N15). If you're not too far away and wanna pay for the petrol - my little Polo is very economic :) - I can deliver it to your door.

10. I use it in front of my tube preamp sometimes as an overdrive/distortion pedal. Don't see why it wouldn't work with an all tube head. It works better as a preamp than as an effects pedal, though. Try to plug the VT Bass straight into the Marshall's power amp. I bet it's gonna sound great! I love my VT Bass! I had an SVT Classic + 8x10 cabinet for years and this pedal is the closest you'll ever get from that sound without having to haul that monster around, or replace its tubes, etc. Even if in the end you don't like the sound of it in front, or into the Marshall, it's definitely a piece of gear that it's worth having for recording alone. Sounds wicked on tape! Sound engineers and producers are gonna love you.

11. Hey there!

So this is the last of the effect pedals I don't use that I'm trying to sell.

Used only twice. From the box to the pedal board and back into the box. The only difference from a brand new one is the price. Comes in the original box with all the nice little papers and plastics. :)

£40 if you come and collect it in N15

As usual the picture sucks 'cause I don't have a proper camera so I have to use my mobile. Sorry...

12. Hey guys!

I'm selling here these barely used Electro Harmonix pedals. For those of you who don't know, the Micro Pog is a polyphonic octave generator that sounds massive and tracks like no other octave pedal I've ever tried. It gives you the possibility of mixing your clean signal with an octave below and an octave above in any proportion you like. The Enigma is an envelope filter that you can use more conventionally to get that classic Q-Tron sound, or try and tweak with it (the manual is very helpful, by the way) for some really crazy sounds. Combining the effects can give you amazing bass synth sounds! Unfortunately I'm not having the chance to use them lately and need the cash, so here I am.

Brief description:

[s]EHX Micro Pog - Apart from that scratch you can see on the picture, as new. The scratch actually is not that noticeable in real life. Never used outside of the pedal board. £85 posted (UK only). Comes in the original box and with the manual.[/s] (***SOLD***)
[s]EHX Enigma - As new. Never used outside the pedal board. £80 posted (UK only). Comes in the original box and with the manual.[/s] (***SOLD***)

I'm based in North London in case anybody wants to come and collect it.

Happy to answer any questions.

Cheers

13. Hey guys!

EBAY LINK: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_500wt_1156

I'm selling my beloved Trace Elliot 4x12 guitar cabinet. I'm the second owner and the guy who owned it before didn't know much about it other that he bought new in the mid nighties. I could never find any info on this particular cab anywhere, so if anyone out there knows anything about it, please enlighten me.

What I do know is that this is an amazing sounding, vintage voiced guitar cabinet. It's got the famous (factory fitted) Celestion Vintage 30 speakers handling 240 watts of guitar fury. Impedance is 2x8 Ohms stereo and 4/16 Ohms mono. It's working perfectly and sounds superb. It's got only some minor scratches on the British Racing Green leather covering it. I'm a bass player who also plays guitar (reluctantly) and I used this cab along and old Orange head in some rehearsals and gigs much to the envy and despair of the other (real) guitarist in the band. It sucks, but space and transport issues are making me sell this beauty and, realistically, I don't need anything bigger than my Fender Combo to play live, rehearse, or record. I guess my guitar hero days are over...

I'm based in North London and since I don't have a case, or cover for it I believe a collection would be the best option. If you wanna bring your amp and guitar to test it, you're more than welcome. Sorry about the lame pictures taken with my mobile.

Cheers

Eddie
