What amp are you planning to use with it? I used it with both the Orange Terror Bass and the Traynor YBA300 heads and it's plenty loud. I played with a loud rock covers band with the Terror Bass + SP410 (turned on it's side) with the gain on 3 and the volume on 5 and it was a walk in the park. Very loud cabinet indeed.

2. Hey guys!

I'm putting up for sale here my Orange SP410 (the one on the top in the picture). .

I'm sure you know all about it, but here's a link to Orange's website with all the details: http://www.orangeamp...peaker-cabinet/

Here's a link for a nice demo of the Orange SP range:

The cabinet is almost new and it has been used very little (I think four gigs). Apart from some tiny scratches on the handle covers, where they are screwed into to the upper part of the cabinet, it's in brand new condition. These little scratches were made when I was trying to place my Traynor head on top of it for the first time. This baby sounds amazing and it works perfectly as a stand alone or in combination with another cabinet. Think of it as the most powerful and deeper sounding 2x10 you ever had. It handles 1200 watts into 8 ohms. It comes with a Roqsolid cover which has been the home of this cabinet from day one.

I'm asking for £400 collected from South London (SW9). If you're willing to arrange for a courier to come and collect it, Im fine with it. I don't have the original box anymore, but I can pack it nicely to be delivered to you safe and sound.

Good opportunity to grab a great, brand new cabinet (it even smells like new) for a good price!

Since I'm selling it only because I need some cash, I'm afraid I won't be accepting any trades.

Cheers

3. Hi guys!

I'm selling here this awesome envelope filter pedal:

3 Leaf Audio Proton envelope filter (£125 posted in the UK): Really, really good envelope filter. In the original box with all the papers. It's gonna be difficult to say goodbye, but I don't really use it that much and could really use some cash injection right now as I need a new motor. Bought around 2 months ago from Bass Direct with very little use. Condition is as new

Here's a cool demo:

The pedal have velcro on the bottom, but the rubber feet are in the box so you can easily put them back if so desired.

Cheers

4. Great experience with Roqsolid here too. I ordered a cover for my Traynor YBA300 and, even though they didn't have a cover for this specific model on their website, I was able to use their custom measure system and the cover arrived two days later. Fits perfectly!

5. Mate, I have a tip for you.

If you're into the Avalon U5 kinda vibe, you should give the Focusrite Platinum Trakmaster Pro a try. Class A solid state preamp, like the U5, a very basic but quite effective eq, plus one of the best compressors out there. They have recently been discontinued, but you can find them often on ebay for cheap. Like this one for example. I have the dual channel version of this baby, the TwinTrak Pro, and I couldn't recommend it more. Great piece of gear!

Cheers

6. There are a quite a few power supplies out there that would do different combinations of 9V, 12V, 18V and AC and DC. The thing about the Mark Bass synth thing though is that it needs at least 350mA. Seems like you'll need to use a separate power supply for this baby.

7. Hi Sibob!

I used the VT Bass in the past in front of a power amp and now that I've been using it as normal overdrive pedal, in front of a regular bass amp, I noticed the same problem too. I got a little advice for you. To get a good overdrive, or distortion tone, try to turn the character control to somewhere between about 3 o'clock and fully clockwise (adjust to taste). You'll notice that you'll have to use less drive and the level control seems to work better like that.

The settings I use with my P-Bass for a nice overdriven tone are: Level 9 o'clock (basically trying to adjust the output here to about the same as without the effect on), Mid 12 o'clock, Low fully clockwise, High 3 o'clock, Character between 9 o'clock and full on an drive at 3 o'clock. Try staring out with these settings and if you need more drive, try the character control before you add more drive.

This is a complete departure from the settings I was using before, when using the VT Bass as a preamp. I was about to give up on it as a distortion pedal, but now I'm happy with these settings. It's all about the character control. Give it a try. Hope it helps.

Cheers

8. I don't know what's the magic inside the Ampeg B-100R, but I'm sure there's no other 100 Watts combo out there that can beat it for tone and volume. A rehearsal room I used to rent had one and the band I used to play with was really loud. I never had a problem hearing myself with the Ampeg. Also a friend of mine uses one live, for small and large gigs (with monitoring for when needed), for years now and it never broke down. Extremely reliable piece of gear from the days Ampeg still respected their costumers. If I were going to buy a small combo today, that would be it.

But, yeah... The point of trying an extension cabinet is valid and it would probably do trick for you. Make sure the cabinet is 8 Ohms and use a proper speaker cable.

Cheers

9. I used a Tech 21 VT Bass for a long time in front of a QSC PLX1602 and I think it's the closest you can ever sound compared to a big, fat Ampeg valve rig. I found it really versatile as well. Fat reggae tones, slap, mild or heavy distortion (one the best of out there), it's all in the box. I still use the VT Bass in recording sessions and everybody loves it. Great piece of gear. I used the Sansamp Bass Driver in the studio in the past and though it sounds great, it's not as versatile as the VT Bass.
The only disadvantage of the VT is that it doesn't have a DI out. But you can easily solve that with a DI box (which 10 out 10 soundmen will provide anyway), or, if you use a rack compressor like I used to, just the use the comp's DI.
I highly recommend the VT Bass. And if you can spare maybe £90 more, get the programable version. Comes with DI and much more.

Cheers
