I ordered a cover for a Barefaced Midget online last Sunday evening… come Thursday, it was at the door. Amazingly good turnaround!

Though p'raps not [i]quite[/i] as thickly padded as I'd hoped, it's really toughly made, and perfect in terms of size.

I asked for the baffle board-pocket option (the cab being cloth-grilled) and was relieved that Roqsolid got it on the correct side (as noted above, the Midget has an off-centre carry-handle).

Actually with a thin board inserted in place the handle opening is pulled just a few mm's off-centre… and I'd say the size of the handle opening could do with being a tad more generous anyway… but it's no problem.

Overall... recommended.

Well, Gilmour uses Evidence Audio, and I don't think he's quoted as an endorser by them, though I might be wrong on that.

His tech Phil Taylor told me they don't just freeze the instrument leads - they freeze everything in the chain, right back to the mains cables

Veeery interesting. Your JV Jazz is historic. My Precisions are but a humble JV1 '57 and a JV2 '62. I didn't realise before that covers disappeared with the logo change (I seem to recall a big-Fender-small-Squier J with no cover holes - that I missed, alas - but maybe t'was an anomaly, or I'm mistaken).

Geek alert: as another brace-of-JVs person, may I inquire if yours came with bridge/pickup covers?

If you're looking at back-of-van use only, then there is a third way... an XL-size plastic toolbox (Stanley, etc) with hinged lid, metal clip fasteners and foldaway handles on top. Buy one (less than £25 new or haunt the local car boot), throw away the tool tray, chuck a few bits of foam inside, add some rock'n'roll stickers on the outside if you feel like it, job done.

Here's my mini version , aka the Beggar's Flightcase, with Orange Terror, all cables, various spares, tuner... the box cost £11.

Good detective work, but not the same bass IMO... the March auction body has fan-shaped grain above the p/up cover and much more f/board wear... also it's a more impressive-looking Clive refin... pretty good price from Fat Rick at NKR...

I notice he doesn't specify whether the neck's a refin or not.

I have a Terror Bass and got my Midget last week. Only done one show so far, but I'm very impressed. It easily coped, backline only, with a six-piece band in a medium pub, with lots to spare. Beautiful, articulate, balanced, boom-free tone. I imagine the Super Twelve would be capable of anything but I think Alex was 100% right to recommend the Midget for my needs.
